My name is George Muse Gaston and for the last many years I have been tracing my family ancestors by walking through old family cemeteries and checking with county registers where known relatives have lived. It all started when I was nine or ten, helping a 1st cousin on my father's side of the family. For several weeks "Aunt Puddie", as she was known lovingly by the family, and I would head out early in the morning searching for old grave stones from Savannah to Edgefield, South Carolina. I can't remember who we were looking for, but I learned a lot about our family and the social history of the South.|
Family ancestors that I am researching are: Gaston, Muse, Devlin, McKell, Bell, Montgomery, Pressly, Alston, Glenn, Flenniken, Moore, McCrary, Greneker, Calhoun, Dickinson, Service, Barnhill, Boykin, Wilkinson, Nicholson, Howard, Howell, Schley, Snellings, Lankford, Kyte, Kimball and Kerr. Find-a-Grave has been invaluable with my journey.
You'll see many entries here from the old family church, Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (1780) in Abbeville County, South Carolina. I have fond memories of going there as a child and having "dinner on the grounds" after Sunday services. Here I have many relatives and always enjoy stopping by and having a long visit when I am in the area.
Since joining "find-a-grave" I have met many wonderful people and appreciate their help in my never ending search of ancestors past. If I can be of help to you in your searches, please email and I will try my best to assist.

Thank so much for adding the information to his memorial. Greatly appreciated !
|Richard Hodges||Nancy Crosby Robinson Yongue|
Thank you for sending the information that added much to the page for Nancy Yongue buried at Salem Presbyterian Church in Fairfield County, SC. The Yongue family was an important family of this "Old English District" SC county. A few remain. Thanks again. Richard (Pastor, Salem Presbyterian Church)

I was delighted to get her full name, George! I did take the "Mrs" off, it's against the naming conventions on Find A Grave plus I just don't like it-but I was sure glad to get it. Thank you for that edit!

I have no problem with people adding obits to memorials I have put on here. Personally, I think they help family members when working on a family tree. (I know they have helped me greatly)

In an attempt to fulfill photo's for another requesting party (D Black), I noted the two photo requests are findagrave sites managed by you. Both 92179339 & 92182235 (Waltons) head markers are not present. In fact, the entire area has been cleared now with just a few broken small rocks and leveled grass remaining. I took a broad view photo of both at the plantation and loaded them to at least give a general look at the location. The photo's have captions listed as well. If you wish me to delete the photo's -just let me know. Just thought the general area of where the markers once were would be better than nothing at all if that makes sense. --Jerry

Hey George, I read the obit you added for Annie. What a write up. They just don't write them like that anymore! Keep up the good work, I'm enjoying your additions. Thanks

Thank you for posting the photo of Uncle Robert Phillips on his memorial. I have never seen that photo nor knew of its existence. It's a great asset to his memorial.

Thanks for the addition. I'll add it to my records as well. What a nice find.
|Lydia Wood James||William & Riva Sandifer|
I just wanted to let you know I made the changes you requested to Riva & William's pages. Interestingly enough, after reading the obituary posted to William's page I was already in the process of deleting the links between them and "their" child when I read your correction hint for him. I'm not sure how they got linked in the first place. It could be that it was originally noted incorrectly on the cemetery transcript, or that some well meaning person gave me an bad hint.
Either way, problem solved! Please let me know if you need help with anything else, or if you would like a transfer. The vast majority of the names I have transcribed in Denmark Cemetery are not related to me or my husband, so I am more than happy to transfer as needed.
