Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Kershaw County, South Carolina. I have a deep love for history and genealogy. I am from the Buckelew/McQueen line on my father's side and the Proctor/Lackey line on my mother's side. I have found a lot of information and help through Find A Grave and would be willing to help others in need of photos or info from my area. Currently, I am 'relocating' old abandoned and forgotten cemeteries in my county. You can follow my progress at monkee1008.blogspot.com
Please feel free to use any photos I have posted. I just ask that you credit them to me.

You had tried doing a grave search for Rachael Leigh, and this was your response....on May 22, 2013
General problem: Other problem
Details: Where is this located? There is not a cemetery by this name in the Kershaw County Cemetery survey. Are you talking about the old Flat Rock community cemetery?

Pat Iverson was the one who created Rachael Leigh's page, and named her cemetery Leigh Place. I would try and contact her regarding your question. Thanks for all your help your doing on here.

Lackey Info
Hi there,

I found a picture of Rufus Carson and Sarah Osteen Lackey on this page quite a few years ago: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~scclaren/pictures/pictures14.html

I just posted it to Rufus' memorial page today. The other picture on the same site of Ellen Baker and Franklin Witherspoon Thigpen are my maternal great grandparents. So, we may be kin. Bobby Thigpen, who submitted those pictures, is my mother's (Mary Louise Hudson Gore) first cousin. She was the daughter of Oneta Wealtha Tennant Hudson, and her mother and father were James Ezra and Mary "Mamie" Thigpen Tennant.

I have a picture of the Home Branch School in Clarendon County, SC from 1917-1918 that has a lot of Thigpen, Lackey, Scurry, Kolb, Tennant, and Hood family members in it. I also have another picture that shows a lot of my Thigpen relatives, along with some of the Lackey, Scurry, Kolb, and Hood family members. I believe I found them on the same site that I found the Rufus Lackey picture that I posted a link to at the top of this message. You may want to take a look at that site, although I don't think it has been updated for years. It still has a lot of info that you might find useful in your search as well. If you can't find those 2 school pictures on the site, I could send them to you, with the names listed by rows, through email, if you'd like to have them. You may find someone that is kin to you in them.

I've been updating info on as many memorial pages as I can find of my family, and some of it may overlap into your family tree. Hope some of the info helps you some. Thanks for posting that picture of Rufus and his family on his memorial. I had never seen that picture before. And I have wondered for years how he is kin to me, especially after I found his picture underneath my great grandparents picture. I believe we may be cousins in some way, but I'm not really sure. My mother used to do a bit of searching herself before she died 6 years ago. I know she would have been very interested to see how much more info is on the findagrave site than there was when she tried searching for her family members years ago.

It's great looking at all of the old pictures and figuring out how we are related, and seeing their headstones makes me want to go and search for them. But I live in Florence, SC, which is a little ways from Clarendon County, but one day, I may venture over towards Home Branch Cemetery, where a bunch of my Thigpen relatives are, and Sion Presbyterian Cemetery, which houses a lot of the Tennants in my family tree.

Thanks again, and hope you have a great day,
Jill Gore Privette

RE: Pete Brigman
Thanks for finding the location and getting the picture. We used to go to Camden every year for my mothers family "Spradley". My mother was the last one of the big family. Pete is my half brother (my fathers). I was born and raised in Charleston S.C. and now live in Oceanside, Ca.

One of his older sister's (JoAnne) is still living in Camden.

Any one who knew Pete can contact me at bfbrigman1@att.net if they desire to share old photo's etc.....

Thanks again for getting the picture and posting it on the memorial.
