Bio

Born and raised in Black Hills of South Dakota, currently performing inventory of Whitewood Cemetery, a personal project to preserve local history.

Please advise me by e-mail if you find an error or have additional information regarding my listings. I am always interested in new information and sincerely regret any errors I may have made.

My occupation is indexing historic newspapers for the City of Deadwood, S.D., in which the settlement of most of Lawrence County is chronicled. This allows me access to obituaries and stories associated with the death of those buried at Whitewood. I am a member of the Whitewood Cemetery Assoc., and have implemented plat book records into this database.

Entries of the Whitewood Cemetery are being made in chronological order. I am beginning with family members originally buried at the Crook City Cemetery and moved to Whitewood for various reasons when it was established as a railroad town in 1888, primarily the family's move to Whitewood from Crook City.

My intention is to enter burials up to 50 prior to the present date. I preserve the right for family members to make the choice of more recent burials being added. I do invite inquiries for more recent burials to my e-mail address.
