He's buried with his parents. That's why he's buried in NY. Thanks for posting his obituary so quickly.

William H Becker 111854077
Hello Jo, I saw the memorial you created for William H Becker. The info you posted to his "Bio" section notes you found a list of veterans buried in the cemetery. Is there any information as to what unit he served in?

I do research on a Civil War Regiment, the 134th NY Volunteer Infantry, a unit principally recruited in Schoharie County. I've created a virtual cemetery for the unit, 350+ names and counting.

A soldier named William H Becker served in the unit.

Thank you for any information you can provide. Paul Turner

RE: Clarrisa
I have been working on this for so long, that a short wait is held in anticipation of the revelation I believe we've found. There are just too many similarities to be coincidence. If this does turn out to be My Clarissa, it will open a whole new chapter in my genealogy.
Feel free to call me anytime, evenings after 6 are best (quiet time..) I live in NE Pa. (Poconos) 570-369-5346 I await your contact. Again, thank you so much for your work!!

Willard

You have found my wife's grave. She did indeed die in February 1993 in Houston, TX. We were both born and grew up in Minnesota and she had never seen the sea until I accepted an assistant professorship at Princeton University in 1959 having completed a PhD at the Universtity of Minnesota. We had fished lakes in Minnesota, of course, but there were no lobsters, clams or oysters. I had been to the Eastern and Western coastal areas a few times for job interviews and trips in connection with my research, but she had never left Minnesota.

We delighted in the Princeton area and the entire Eastern coastline area. After I was given tenure at Princeton in 1962, I was eligible to apply for a two week stay on a 19th century mansion on Sutton Island, off the coast of Mount Desert, The place had six bedrooms each with bath, so we invited friends to join us. The next year, our friends won two weeks on Sutton Island and invited us. By this time we had fallen in love with Maine.

After that, we visited Maine for a couple of weeks every summer and when I became a Dean of Engineering, first at the University of Kentucky and later at the University of Houston, and had no teaching responsibilities, often in the fall when the colors are glorious.

When ovarian cancer was diagnosed in 1989, we were living in Houston. Our children asked her where she wanted to be buried. She said, the "All Souls by the Sea" cemetery which was next to a 1880s house we had rente a number of times over the years. The gravestone you have found was designed by my youngest daugher, the Universisty Architect at Virginia Tech.

I've visited a number of times, and was delighted to hear children playing in the house from where I have so many memories.

Clarissa Jane Crower
I have recently run across your photo of the Grave marker of a Clarissa Jane Crower in the Circleville cemetery in Orange Cty New York. The relation to her sister Annie Travis leads me to believe this may be my missing Grandmother. I believe the wear on the stone hides the true last name of "Cruver".She was married to a Daniel Cruver. looking close one can see how letters may be mistaken, this happens to me on occasion. Everything about this Clarissa is in line to be my missing Grandmother (been looking for 20+ years) Her name "Clarissa", birth year 1817 (I had cir.1820) death 1846 (I had cir.1842) and the location where it is purported she died "Circleville, NY". Let me know what you think. I will reserve my elation until I do a little more research. Thank you for posting the photo!
Respectively, Willard M Bush Sr
