Bio and Links
Years ago, before my children had even started school, I inherited a wonderful genealogy written in French by a nun, Marie Céline Ruel. She was my great-grandmother's first cousin. They were very close, more like sisters, because their mothers were sisters and their fathers were brothers. Céline had traced the Ruel and Goulet families back to the time of arrival of the original ancestors in Canada in the early 1600's. This tome is a fabulous resource that has allowed me to use my French, which had admittedly been neglected since my high school days. While French was my father's first language, he rarely used it at home.

In 2008, eight years after I received the 1942 "Généalogie de la Famille Goulet-Ruel", I decided it was time to try my hand at genealogy. Years ago, a business partner of mine had mentioned his strong interest in the hobby. However, it wasn't until I started my family tree that I realized how addictive genealogy could be. I loved to play detective! A year and a half later, I became a contributor to Find A Grave. Initially, I concentrated on members of my family tree. However, over time that has evolved such that I also photograph headstones and create memorials for people who are not related to me. Along the way, I have discovered fascinating people in my family tree, including diplomats, knights, artists, actors, writers, and politicians. My tree includes the artist Marc Chagall, author H Rider Haggard, and the premier of Spain Juan Negrin, as well as other intriguing characters.

I am available to assist anyone who has questions about translation of French genealogy records. I am particularly interested in the Ruel families of Québec, New Hampshire, and Maine, as well as the Faherty families of New Jersey who immigrated from County Galway, and can help people researching those families. With regard to transfer of memorials, please see the guidelines posted by Find A Grave, although I am willing to consider transfer of memorials that fall out of those guidelines. Please use the "Edit" button to suggest corrections, additions, or links, or to request transfers. You will receive the courtesy of a reply and a thank you, and I will be happy to include all pertinent, accurate information in my memorials. Please note, however, that I generally avoid transcribing newspaper obituaries from after January 1923, due to copyright issues.

Genealogists help to preserve family history. One of the primary reasons that I started my family tree was to be able to share family history with my children and extended family. With Find A Grave and other genealogy sites, we can share our history with a much larger family. And we make lovely friends and discover living family along the way.

Mabel Wursch, Lydia Mauge and Arthur Kowalski Baugh photo requests
You are receiving this message because you have submitted a photo request for the above named person(s). I wanted to let you know that I will be traveling to that area from Dallas during the first week of June and I would be able to get the requested photo(s) for you. I do need some help from you tho. While I am in the Chicago area, I intend to get as many names off the list for Evergreen Cemetery as possible. The list is growing every day and is now at 263 requests! Evergreen Cemetery is near and dear to my heart as I have several of my own family members there. If you would please call the cemetery office and obtain the burial plot locations and send them to me, I will for sure get them for you when I go there in June. If everyone could get me the locations I could really get a lot of requests done but I can't do it alone! The office number for Evergreen Cemetery is 708-422-9051. You can leave me a public message with the information, or you may email me at 1963susansmith@gmail.com Please be sure to reference the requested names. Thank you!

Duplicate & Incorrect Memorial
The memorial made for my grandfather, Charles Clifford Allen is is incorrect. He has had a Find A Grave memorial #6446457 since May 25, 2002. Please remove your memorial or merge it into the existing record. Thank you for the effort.

Cashel or High Cashel ?

Your memorial # 136016394
Unsure as to whether you intended to create a duplicate cemetery as it is unclear, as you have not attached any GPS locations. Galway Council who have been the authority on administrative and heritage aspects of graveyards/cemeteries from the late 1950’s have the site recorded as Cashel Graveyard. Whilst newspapers may use the term ‘’High’’, it merely relates to its elevated site and on a secondary note newspapers are poor sources for "official" cemetery names.
High Cashel may be added as an alternate name, and if you contact Find A Grave admin they will add the alternate name and remove the page created in Sep 2014.

Jean Francois Ruel
Which of the two brothers married Marie Madeleine Godbout?
I know the French families often called another member of the family the same name as a deceased person, but to date I can't find a death record for the first Jean Francois Ruel b. in 1729. (spelled Ruelle in this record on Drouin.
This leaves me with the above question.

Jean Francois Ruel
Please ignore my previous message. There are two Jean Francois Ruel with same parents. The first one born in 1729 and the other in 1739. One died in 1758 at age 18.

Henry J. Deblois
Hello Anne. I was referred to the Find-A-Grave by my Daughter. She read your Bio on Henry and wondered why you would be profiling him? Henry was my oldest Daughters, husbands Father. My Son-in-Law's name is Timothy Brunner Deblois. Drop me a line so we may talk about this. Don

Fedora Roux
Anne, I am uncertain as to whether or not you received my initial request, so here it is again. Fedora Roux Charette (77058684) is my grandfather’s sister and in our family blood line. A reviewed of all the information provided directly to me by Fedora and in discussion with her over several years in the early 90's, no reference was made to the surname Philbrick. Thus one can safely assume that, if a link to you does exists, it is tangential at best. To eliminate needless clutter within Find A Grave, please delete the duplicate memorial (66034918) which you created. Thank you for your cooperation. Bob

RELATED
Hello Anne,

I am related to the Mother of Berenice Gagnon. Her name is Eleonore Lessard (my GG Grandmother). Her 2nd spouse Charles Laverdiere is my GG Grandfather. I have photo's of both and sent them to your email provided on findagrave. Do you have a photo of Berenice Gagnon? Berenice would be a half sister to my Great Grandfather Joseph Laverdiere. Thank you for your time in this matter.
