|Avellina Balestri||How Stands the Glass Around...?|
I'm new on Find a Grave, and looking to meet some historically minded friends. I notice we both have an interest in and admiration for General James Wolfe.
As a folk singer, I must say he is pretty much the man of the hour, from "How Stands the Glass Around", to "Bold General Wolfe", to "Brave Wolfe", the latter being my personal favorite. Also, I love "Elegy in a Country Church Yard". The guy obviously had good taste in poetry! I have also read multiple biographies of him, and quite a lot of his letters.
I was so disappointed with the way they portrayed him in the utterly lack-luster film "Battle of the Brave", in which they just made him look plain nuts. He was such a colorful and complex character, with extensive faults, certainly, but some wonderful attributes that revisionists are hesitant to acknowlege.
Anyway, I hope all's well in the great frozen north! I have a dear friend in Manitoba, so your country is near to my heart :)
|Gary Bernard||Hey You...|
Hi Don, Nice to see your still active on this site. I hope all is well, and that you are ready for another exciting year in Baseball. Rumor has it that the Cubbies are going to finally take it all this season. Heck they took our Jon Lester from the Sox.
|deb sax||The Donnelly's|
They were cleared of any wrong doing and were scape goats for years the parents were too old and were to leave to give testamony the next day against Carrol who was one of the ring leaders People back then were to afraid to say anything They even have a Donnelly museum in town and are giving the true story

I noticed your comments about Duncan Phyfe AKA Fife. There is a wonderful new book about him, published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2011. The pictures, etc. are wonderful. So far, I have bought two of them.

|Gary Bernard||RE: Ballplayers|
Great to hear from you. Hope all is well up in Canada. You must be happy that the boys are back on the ice again. The Bruins are off to a 2-0 start so far. Yes, I saw that we lost a few more ball players. Weaver was always a great manager for the O's. To be candid with you I thought Stan Musial passed away years ago. Anyways he was one of the BEST the game of Baseball ever had. I hope you have a wonderful New Year and will look forward to corresponding with you soon. CYA Buddy ! Gary

It was good to see that Sir Jack is still remembered, even across the pond in Canada.

It was great to see that people came by to "visit" Vince Coleman today. To those of us working on the railroad telegraphy project, he is indeed a hero!
