Garrett Lane #140890610
I thought that Garrett Lane #140890610 was the son of Tidence Lane & Rebecca Craven (buried in Lane-Foust cemetery)

There is another Garrett Lane #92534903 buried in Lane cemetery, Green co, KY. Also in that cemetery are Joseph Perin Lane & Lucy Herrin Lane.

Both of these Garret Lane's died in 1855, but one is from Randolph co, NC & the other is from KY.

RE: re: Robert William Tate (#87750316)
Yes, where possible I always try to use the original historical record versus current day info. Most people posting in NC have no clue about the creation of counties. Although NC has 100 counties, there have been 130 in total, but some were combined, abolished, etc. My focus is on Surry, Yadkin, Stokes & Forsyth and their creation dates were:

Surry 1771 (from Rowan)
Stokes 1777 (from Surry)
Davie 1836 (from Rowan)
Forsyth 1849 (from Stokes)
Yadkin 1850 (from Surry)

2Lt Sara Blanche Vance
I am preparing a brief biography for 2Lt Vance, to be posted on the West Virginia Veterans Memorial website. I am requesting permission to use the photo of her cross in the Sicily Rome Cemetery in the posting. Thank you for your assistance.

RE: Felicita Wootlow Hecht (56637802)
I have absolutely no doubt that the name is an honest mistake - likely on the magazine's part, not yours, and possibly from transcribing someone's handwriting.

Felicita Wootlow Hecht (56637802)
Hello Doc,

Thank you for curating all of these memorials!

If you have time for corrections, I would like to let know that Felicita's maiden name was Wootton, not Wootlow. Also, she was born in October, 1880, according to the 1900 census.

Finally, can you tell me where knowledge of cause of death comes from? I had suspected Spanish Flu, but the memorial says Cancer. Her story has always puzzled me; her husband (my cousin) had died in 1914, and she left behind two young daughters, the fate of one of which has not yet been discovered.

Thanks!
Steve Adelson
