Some of the fondest memories of Aunt T's childhood are visiting her older infant brother's grave site in a beautiful old cemetery. After paying respects to him and her great-grandparents (they shared a plot), her family would then wander around the cemetery reading inscriptions and trying to find the oldest dates. She would always read the names aloud, feeling it made them more real to her and wondering when the last time someone on earth had uttered their names. |
Now we both share the same interests in tracing our roots and still love to walk around old cemeteries reading names and dates. We're grateful we can do it "virtually" for those ancestors that are buried far from us.
We are happy to transfer memorials within Find A Grave's guidelines.

|Mindy Erickson||Cecilia Babcock Leighton|
Cecilia Babcock Leighton was married to my Great great grandmother's brother, Charles Carroll Leighton. Did they have any children before he was killed in the Civil War in 1863. Also, have you found out another other information on Cecilia?
Please contact my mother by email:
I have been doing my genealogy for many years. I noticed you entered information regarding Esther R Hewes. Do you know if her maiden name was Roex?
|Peter M Berrie||To the BERRIE Family|
Lovely to come across this memorial to Albert Clinton Berrie. My name is Peter Michael Berrie (no relation as far as I know). My slightly bizarre connection is that I knew my namesake, Peter Michael Berrie of Fairbanks, Alaska, although only from a distance (I live in England).
In the early days of the internet, I discovered that there was another Peter Michael Berrie. I dropped him an email and we stayed in for a few years until I heard about his untimely death in 1998. I wish I'd known him better.
Naturally Peter and I were curious as to whether we had a family connection. He told me what he knew about his ancestry and, being a "family tree" nut, I filed it with my own family records. I still have it on file today, along with the letter Peter wrote me in 1997.
As I read your memorial this evening, a shiver went through me as I read that his grandfather was buried at Presque Isle. When I first knew Peter, he donated one of his many free email accounts to me. He'd set the password, which I retained for many years, to "presque".
Avis Lancaster Kilcollins, I can't find a marriage

|Charlie at Smiths Memorials||Gustaff Engberg|
I received a notice in mid-November pointing out who the parents of Gustaff are. Since then I found the obit for him at the Stockton Springs Historical Society and posted same, so your info is covered. Do you know where the parents are buried....a search does not find them in Maine?

|Sheppard2||Glenna Louise Magaw Brown|
Hi Aunt & Uncle T,
Thanks for accepting the edits. I am embarrassed that I must have put the same number in twice. I submitted a new edit. Sorry.
At present, her father, Elbridge, is also listed as her mother. It is confusing enough, as Elbridge Magaw had 2 wives, and the 1930 Census lists the second wife as Glenna's mother (but she would have been about age 9 as a parent).
Please remove the first spouse from this memorial(144489331). Dudley Lovely's ONLY marriage was to Louise C Condon. They remained married until his death. I inadvertently added an erroneous memorial reference. Louise was my aunt, by marriage through her second and third spouses, and had spoke of her previous marriage.
|Barbara Larsen||Sumner Whitney|
I found your site for Sumner and see that you accessed his obituary for the information. Sumner is my half-brother's great, great grandfather and we have been searching for a photo of him for a very long time. My brother is not in the best of health and I would like to find a photo of Sumner for him. I have tried the Maine government and Presque Isle Historical Society. No one has a photo of him. You would think since he was a senator - someone would have a photo or likeness. If you ever come across a photo I would certainly be interested. Thank you.
|Cissy Flew Nichols||Susanna Judd Blunkall|
I see that your 4th great grandmother is my 3rd great grandmother. I am so pleased to "meet" you. I have a question or two concerning the Blunkalls. If you were to be so kind as to contact me, it would be greatly appreciated, Sincerely, Cissy Flew Nichols
