Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am now a ninety one year old mother, grandmother, gr-grandmother, and recently a gr-gr-grandmother. On my 80th birthday my grandkids were ask to share what they remember about grandma. Because I realized they didn't know much about their ancestors, I decided to write down what I remembered of the stories that were told to me as I was growing up. That lead me to contact the Sequoia Genealogical Society.

Volunteers taught me how to find more than 100 years of local family history from the Tulare City Libraries Genealogical Collection.

One volunteer, a retired school teacher taught me, fourth grade style, how to search the Internet on the computer. That year my daughter and grand children gave me a computer for Christmas, and I was off and flying and now I added Find a Grave to my activities.

I am now a self appointed family historian who has been doing research on my own extended family, and that of my friends,

Seen on another contributor's profile. I couldn't agree more.

We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.

When you visit one of my memorials please leave a flower. I appreciate it when you say what relation, if any, to a person.

Because of my age I would like to transfer some of my memorials. For many of them, I am not a direct descendant, and I prefer to transfer to direct descendants. There are a few occasions where I will make an exception. I will not make any transfers unless you leave a flower and a note.

RE: Robert Evans 121911744 married Mary Jane Stinson 125218878
You have said, regarding Robert's Death Certificate, that you can "find no conformation for the fact that his wife’s name was listed on his death certificate as Elizabeth." Well then, I strongly suggest that you take a look at his Death Certificate again because it definitely states the following from Tennessee, Deaths and Burials Index, 1874-1955 -

Name: Robert Evans
Birth Date: 30 Nov 1870
Birth Place: Montgomery County, Tennessee
Age: 66
Death Date: 2 Feb 1937
Death Place: Oakland, Montgomery, Tennessee
Burial Date: 3 Feb 1937
Cemetery Name: Hickory Grove
Gender: Male
Race: White
Marital Status: Married
Street address: R #2
Residence Place: Woodlawn, Tennessee
Occupation: Farmer
Father's name: Ambrose Evans
Father's Birth Place: Tennessee
Mother's name: Betty Dycus
Mother's Birth Place: Virginia
Spouse's Name: Elizabeth Evans
FHL Film Number: 1876847

As you can see, the record his his wife as Elizabeth, so don't tell me that Elizabeth doesn't show up on his Death Certificate as his wife.

That said, I leave the entire problem in your care, as I've deleted the memorials relating to him.

You sent me an edit suggestion ~
~ asking me to link memorial 121911744 [Robert Evans
(1870-1937)] as the spouse to Mary Jane (Stinson) Evans (1872-1921) in memorial 125218878.

However, when Robert died in 1937, his wife was listed as Elizabeth ( -- ) Evans, while Mary, when she died was just listed as a widow.

Until you can refer me to a public record {or someone's personal recollection} that shows me that Mary was married to Robert, then I must hold off adding the link. Too many times I've had similar link suggestions, only to find out later that the links were incorrect.
