Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Oregon and started my genealogy hobby in 1976. That lasted for less than a year, and then I started again in the winter of 1998.

"The Final Act Of Love Is To Remember."

Family surnames:
Direct Paternal: Fenter, Hardage (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri), 1800's. Collateral Paternal: Allen, Bray, Cain, Doudy/Dawdy, Hardage, Hughes, Tanner.
Direct Maternal: Campbell, Steele (Kansas, Missouri, North & South Carolina, Pennsylvania), 1800's. Collateral Maternal: Anderson, Bailey, Chamberlin, Cook/Koch, Cordon, Drake, Duff, Hart, Hillhouse, Holmes, Montgomery, Myers, Stanley, Williams.

I try to use the best possible photo on memorials because I know how important it is to be able to read all the text on the marker.

Find A Grave allows 5 free spaces for photos on each memorial page, so I try not to upload more than 2-3 cemetery photos. If you need more room for photos, please contact me and ask me to remove a photo so you have more room.

My Photos: If anyone would like to use any of my grave marker photos, please contact me for permission.

Transfering Memorials: For those that are not of my family, please contact me, and include your member name & number, the name on the memorial and memorial number.

Please Note: The last residence on the Social Security Death Index is not always where the person died, but where the last benefit check was sent.

RE: John Hoffman # 153832305
I have tracked John Hoffman in seven U.S. Census from 1870 (Wisconsin, Iowa county) and 1880 (Wisconsin Iowa County), 1900, 1910 and 1920 (South Dakota, Brookings County). 1930 and 1940 Oregon. John and his wife Pheobe had three children Lillian, Charles and Fredrick. I am fairly confident that the parents in the 1870 and 1880 census are the parents of the John Hoffman in Oregon.

I am not a direct relative of John Hoffman, however he is a great uncle of my second cousin.

Claire Volts Sylvester
I can't thank you enough for making a monument for Benjamin and Nora Volts, my great grandparents. Nobody could tell me where they were interred. There daughter Claire might have been married before or after Si Sylvester, I'm not sure. Will do more research. I really appreciate your efforts as I try to connect the dots.

Silas Sylvester 162350036
Jan I see you have Silas Sylvester listed. I'm pretty sure he was married to my great aunt Claire Allen and I'm not sure if she's buried same cemetery as Silas. Could you please check your photos. I made a memorial for her.

thanks,

Steve

Albert Scharf
Dear Jan,

I am researching my paternal grandfather's WWI army unit, Company B, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. According to documentation, Albert Scharf was a member of this unit. This is partially confirmed by his gravestone.

I'm not sure where I'm going with my project, but I'm hoping to eventually publish something. When I do, would it be permissible to use your photograph of the grave of Albert Scharf (Find A Grave Memorial# 112385139)?

Thank you!

Bryan Anderson

Sorry Jan.
I just noticed your message.

I see that the memorial without a photo has been removed.
If you did it, thank you.

Thank You for the correction information. I have changed the location on both. This my great aunt and her husband. The person that gave the original information is not very trustworthy I guess.
Thank you again,
Lori
