I brake for Headstones!|
Genealogy and family is the history of ourselves. I am truly amazed why and how I made it on this earth, at this moment in time, after uncovering the hardships of my ancestors, especially during the War for Southern Independence. I enjoy stories and pictures from the past, and passing them along to others, through e-mail and social media.
If I can help others uncover clues to their past, I will feel blessed by the Lord in many ways. So please don't be afraid to ask for help.
THE STORY TELLERS - by unknown
We are the chosen. My feelings are, in each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all those who have gone before.
We are the storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one.
We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story.
"Those we love don't go away...They walk beside us every day...Unseen, unheard, but always near...Still loved, still missed and very dear."

Reggie, I do not have Andrew in my database. He does not show up on any of the census during that time frame. He is not listed as a child under Jeremiah Davis family. I will do more research and see if I can find any info on him.

Reggie, is it possible for you to add my GGG grandad to the 4th AL Cav Co G virtual library? His name was Capt George W Butler and he is burried in Haney's Chapel. He was a member of the 4th Alabama Calvary (Russell), Company G, CSA.
I am very proud of my GGG grandad's service and would be honored if you included him.

Reggie, are you sure this is a picture of Harriett F Davis Casey and George Washington Casey?

Hey Reggie, I have found this gentleman and his wife at Memory Hill in Albertville. Best I can tell this would be George Washington Martin's(from Rock Springs who married Lucinda Hughes) grandson, through their son Ollie H. Trying to complete his memorial. Not for sure that the wife is dead.... her name would be Vivian Martin born in 1930. There are no death dates for her.
Thanks for your time and help.

My pleasure, Reggie ... glad to help when I can.

Reggie, I was trying to link Benjamin Fall's children to him and noticed that you had put a photo on Lizzie Reeves' memorial (39464915). The woman in that photo is not Lizzie Reeves, it is her stepmother Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Estes Falls. Lizzie Reeves' mother Senna Falls, her father Benjamin and her stepmother Sarah Eliz. are all buried in Winston Co, AL. at Williams Cemetery. Thank you e-mailing the pictures to me. I am trying to find out who the people are in the "Estes Family" photo.

I'm no relation. My brother in law is related to the family, which he is now deceased. His name was David Berry.
This stone I found today. It has been a puzzle most of the day. I finally figured it out, it says M Austin for Millie Austin. Thanks to the dates you have on her memorial. This stone I left uncovered. It is toward the back corner of the cemetery. Names around are W. McDerment, Chella Young, Burner and HM Duvall(these stones are small and hard to read).

I keep working on this cemetery to find some of the buried stones. I found 2 today... OE Young, and Wilson Sims original stone. Wilson has 2 memorials at Rock Springs, Wilson C and Wilson Creed Sims. I have posted my pics to the Wilson C but can move them if you want to delete one. Just let me know which one before you delete so I can save the pictures. FYI... Wilsoon Simes is on his original stone.

My original reason for writing was to find out about that stone and noticed your info on his site. I think that is wonderful. May need to talk to you about your getting that stone. I have a 2xgreat grandfather in DeKalb Co. AL that was in the Civil War and as far as I know, never had a stone. Take Care.
