Retired US Army colonel and then college administrator.|
40-year genealogist. Have written 11 family genealogy books.
Travel extensively to attend college sports events and visit cemeteries. In fact, have posted FindAGrave "volunteer photos" from cemeteries in 40 different states, plus DC.
Will gladly transfer a memorial to you unless I'm a closer relative. Just ask.
And feel free to use any of my photos.
A couple of tips if you would like volunteer photographers like me to take cemetery pictures for you. First, if possible, include the grave location -- one way to learn a grave location is to phone the cemetery; if a cemetery with thousands or even tens of thousands of graves has 20 photo requests and the volunteer has only an hour or two to take photographs, we are likely to select first the requests that include the grave location. Second, if you want multiple photographs (e.g., husband and wife), list both/all of them; we volunteers feel we are more helpful the more pictures we take, so we are likely to choose first a pair of requests.
Thanks, and have an awesome day.

Thanks so much for taking the photo of the grave of Henry Myers. Henry was in Co I, 120th OVI. I have been researching the 120th Ohio Volunteer Infantry for the last 11 yrs in order to identify the men. I would like permission to use your photos on my site and on any CD or print copy of my research that I will give to the Wayne County library in Wooster OH. I always give credit for the photos.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for taking the pictures of the markers for William Pettus and his wife, Bessie N. Pettus, in Richmond National Cemetery. I also appreciate them now being linked to each other.
I hope you had a nice visit in Richmond, Virginia and a safe trip back to your home in Arizona. Thanks again for being a Photo Volunteer !

Bill, thank you so much for these two photos. I have awaited quite awhile for someone to volunteer I'll add them to my virtual cemetery and put them up on Ancestry.

Your from out of state and you come in here and claim photos that has to do with a project that has been going on for over three years here. A lot of time has gone into finding the birth dates of many buried at Fort Snelling. And we are out there almost every day getting the photos taken and posting the dates and spouse links on each memorial. I for one do not appreciate you claiming all of William's requests. I'm sure you didn't know it was a projest but when someone requests many at a time that should tell you there is research going on.
How come you don't do this in your own hometown?
|Sharla||RE: 8 Photo Requests in Phoenix|
Thank you so much for claiming them. That is quite a drive for you. Be Safe!
Always exciting to have the memorials complete after the picture is there. If only a temporary marker I request a second time for the permanent marker. They place the markers sometimes in a month and seems never over three.
