I am related to his 2nd wife, Mary Ann "Dye" Curtis Dement.
My grandmother was Maggie Dye Wyscaver.
Are you related to John Dement?

Sorry, I just photographed that cemetery. I don't know anything about him.

You also need to remove the word volunteer.
Link still doesn't work. Should be:

It looks like the web page has changed for the 4th ohio cav and the link on your profile page isn't working.

Sorry, Bill, I can't find his stone. You can leave the photo request or pull it. It's your call. I'll put up a bunch of photos of his friends headstones in his honor.

Yes, well sort of :) he is my husband's G-G-Uncle. Are you related?

I'm having some trouble with your request at Dayton and suspect a "fubar". I posted the National Veteran's home data and for grave plot it says: A 2 and in another hand faintly says "No headstone found". When I count the stones in Section A, Row 2, Grave 27 (like is posted on Find A Grave) I find the stone for Thomas Millhouse. It is in really poor condition and on Millhouse's Home records it says A, 2, 25; but on Find A Grave it says A, 2, 27. Now Steward died Dec 3 and Millhouse died Dec 5 of 1877 so the stones should be close together. Neither the National or local VA records list James Stewart d. 1877 at all. I suspect something happened to his stone way back when and he got purged from the cemetery database at some point. The office says they don't have him yet we have the old Home records that say they do. Some stones in the area have been replaced and are easily read (but another fubar opportunity). Others are facing the weather and are very hard to read. I'm going to go back for the third time and photograph all the stones from early December 1877 and give it one more try. My gut says he's here but the stone is MIA.
