SGT William S Butler
Dear Carol,

I am trying to figure out the fathers name of SGT William S Butler who tragically died in the indian battle in MN, 05 Oct 1898 and reburied in the Crane Cemetery in Lenawee County, MI.

I have a military pension beneficiary card that states Delana Clark as his mother. So I am trying to find out who his father was.

I know that after the military buried William up in MN after the battle, the Knights of Pythius brought him to Lenawee County, MI and had his funeral at the home of a Mrs D A Clark. I think the second initial to Mrs D (A) Clark is incorrect. It should have been Mrs D C Clark for Delana Caroline Clark. Then he was buried in Crane Cemetery.

Any information you can relay to me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

RE: Palmyra Village Cem, Palmyra Twsp, Lenawee Co, Michigan
If Mary WHITMARSH died 1934 is right beside Samuel Pool WHITMARSH (1831-1897) then yes that is her. I know she was living in 1920 in Adrian, Lenawee Co, Michigan.

Carol: Thank you very much for photographing the grave of Samuel Pool WHITMARSH (b. 1831) [link # 95896089] at Palmyra Village Cem, Palmyra Twsp, Lenawee Co, Michigan.

One question: when you found Samuel's grave did you see a marked grave for his wife Mary (STEELE) WHITMARSH (b. 1840) beside his?
