Lately I've been a little obsessed with adding names to the Washburn Street Cemetery in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I've found several ancestors buried there and then I read about the cemetery, I just couldn't help but want to add to it.|
(I'm adding this info based on both Death Certificates and obituaries.)
PS - I sort of hate the fact that Davis and Davies are so interchangeable! It's annoying.
I live in Colorado and I'm very interested in family history. The whole reason I joined here was to find my ancestors. I love going to cemeteries and taking pictures. Many of my contributions are based off the photographs I take at these cemeteries.
Sometimes I have trouble reading the dates in the pictures - if you can help me you can click the Edit tab at the top and send me a message. I want to get it right! I like linking family members and adding any info you may have for me. :D
I'm more than happy to transfer memorials to family members!
The one nearest and dearest to my heart, my daddy, was the reason I joined. You can always stop by and leave flowers. <3
I helped Beth in Colorado to add all the folks in Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City. It took months, wasn't easy, but it was worth it!
My main interest names are:
A note about my photos - any headstone photos that I took, you have my permission to use on Ancestry or even your own family history pages, all I ask is that you note that I(Courtney Birkes) took the photo. Thank you :)

|Gail Schlemmer||Memorial #141006183|
I am looking for info on my great grandparents.
Benjamin Walters and Mary Ann Walters Mem #
141006183. I know they were buried at Wasburn as I have the Permit for Benjamin but have not been able to get any other info as to where the plot is.
Can you tell me how you came to finding the Walter were buried at Washburn and maybe this would open up an avenue for me to follow. We have hit a brick wall.
I would be grateful for any help.
|Joyce Henderson||Hugh Sturm|
I see that you have created memorials for several of my relatives! How wonderful to find them. I guess it would be best to go through them individually, and get them transferred to me rather than making a list. Thank you so much for all of your work! Joyce Henderson
P.S. Hugh Sturm was my great Uncle Hook.
Thank you in advance for all of the transfers!
|mbowman938||Find A Grave Memorial# 128335032, James Davies|
While researching interments in the Stratford Cemetery in Scranton, I came across this memorial that you created in Washburn Avenue Cemetery. I see from your bio that you get a lot of your information from death certificates, something I also use quite extensively.
Unfortunately, for this memorial, James is actually buried in Stratford, the memorial for which was entered by Tom Price quite awhile ago. He also has a picture of the headstone, which I have seen in person.
The data on him is confusing and contradictory. He is buried in Stratford, but his death certificate says Washburn. His death certificate lists his date of birth as 1859 but the stone lists it as 1855. His obituary lists his name as Davis but the address matches that of Davies on the death certificate. The death certificate also lists his wife as Dinah, who is also buried with him in Stratford.
If you want to check it out, the memorial number is 28340062. If you concur that these are both the same person, could you delete your memorial in Washburn to help keep Find-A-Grave accurate? If you feel they are not the same person and have additional information to show that, please share it to help alleviate the confusion in the records from the time.

Olive's grave is there too?
|Pam Fallon||James McConnell|
I am still very new to all of this, but I am so grateful to find his entry. I hope to get to this cemetery in person very soon. Are you related to James McConnell? I am looking for James' wife Olive's grave as well as her infant granddaughter Maude Mary Fallon who is buried there as well. If you have any more information, I would love to hear it before I drive to Scranton. Thank you!
|Resurchin||RE: Azel Day Galbraith #140355705|
Thanks. I saw one reference to him as Azel Day and think that is probably correct. I was just trying to confirm it. Apparently someone else came to that same conclusion.

I am very interested in the information you posted for Azel D. Galbraith who was hanged for the murder of his wife and son. His wife was my Great Grandfather's sister. I thought his middle name was Donald--which was also the name of his son. Did you obtain your information from an obituary?

|davidgrand||Thanks for the Transfer|
I have updated their Bios and put more info around their dates.
Thanks for creating their memorials.

I should have included this also. Can I manage his step-mom's memorial also.
She is 109093538
I am very perplexed why the names are wrong on the gravestones becuase in the Mortuary Books stored at the Cripple Creek History Museum, they got the spellings correct. Fauroux is the proper spelling.
Thanks in advance.
|davidgrand||Transfer Request - SP Faroux|
Thank you for commemorating my distant cousin with your wonderful work at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Cripple Creek.
I would like to manage this memorial if you are okay with that. The grave marker is misspelled so I have quite a story to tell.
Please transfer SP Faroux (should be Fauroux) to me. His number: 109093537
My number: 47000979
Thank once again!
