Hi, Vonnie,

Do you have any family Cantrell members related to Dolly Cantrell who is buried in Hazel Green, AL?

She had a daughter, Cecil B. Cantrell, who married Elden Hastings, Bedford, County, TN.

Thanks, Vonnie! Sure enough, one of those Carotherses is a cousin many times removed. He's also one for whose descendant I just (after we last spoke) logged an atDNA ("family") match on my tree.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Laban Hartley Sr. #34375320
Morning Vonnie, hope this note finds you doing well.

Laban Sr. memorial looks great. I'm confuse on the connection of his Mother that is listed. I don't think that is his mother, as the person listed was born seven years before Laban.

Re: Find A Grave Memorial# 64677378
Thanks very much for taking care of having the erroneous links removed! So far I have not found pages or gravesites for his parents, and that is after extensive research so it's possible nobody has made pages for Col. George and Mary (Meade) Walker yet. I know the county where they died, or at least where they lived at times of death (Brunswick Co., VA), but not the exact location. If we create Find A Grave pages for them, I have page numbers for several of their children, but I have hesitated to make pages without knowing where they are buried. If you think it's a good idea, let's go for it!

RE: received transfer?
Yes thank you for the transfer and your reply. I hope to visit the King's Mountain area someday and see where John Pierce and many others fought and also be able to visit the memorials at the private memorial park. Thanks again for all of your work. Now, I have some work to do myself on the memorial. Mary

James Reuben Walker
I was the eldest, born nineteenth day of July 1753. The names of his sons after my own, were John, James, Thomas, Joseph, George and Jacob. I like to have forgotten William who was the eighth son, although the fourth in succession, and only now living William, Jacob and myself.

This is from The Memoires of A Southern Gentleman by the Honorable Felix Walker and even you say there were 8 sons, 6 who served in the Rev. War. James=James Reuben who also sometimes known as Reuben.

Capt. James Pierce memorial and DNA
Vonnie, thanks so much for recording this info about Capt. James Pierce on findagrave. He is my 4th great grandfather through his son John b. 1776. I have a very difficult to read copy of his pension application so it is wonderful to be able to read the transcription so easily here online. I am interested in corresponding with anyone who has done DNA testing and is related to James and/or his son John Pierce. I am very pleased to learn about the monument to James. Mary L Pierce-Hughes

Thanks for info on Eleanor Sharp Dunkin
Thanks for posting all the info about Eleanor on findagrave. I just recently joined DAR with Eleanor as my patriot. I also was able to visit the Green Springs cemetery this June (2015) and agree with you that Eleanor is most likely to be buried there. I also see that you had posted info on James Pierce. I am a direct descendent of James who was the rev. war vet. Are we related through both of these patriots?
