Bio and Links
Bio Photo I retired as an elementary school principal in 2000. As a person that sleeps only 4 hours a night that leaves 20 hours to fill. Sitting home is not an option. Now, I drive a school bus 5 hours a day and visit cemeteries every chance I get. I have never been to a cemetery that charged admission and seldom is there a crowd. My wife, Sandra, is of a like mind so it works well. We both enjoy the hunt and the thrill that comes with each discovery. Let us know if we can help. If you have additional information on one of my post or you are a relative and want ownership, I will gladly transfer it to you. Just ask. Oh! By the way just call me Doc!
NOTE: Many times the family plot has names different from those on the headstone. I always attempt to provide a reference point for markers. Hope this is not confusing.

Two quotes worth remembering:

"Tread softly, dreams are buried here." Unknown

"If you wonder about your 'roots' you have two parents, four grandparents eight great-grandparents and 16 great-great-grandparents, and by the time you go back 10 generations 300 years or so- you had 1,024 people from whom you are directly descended. --Mady Castro

You have created a LOT more memorials than I have, so there is probably a logical explanation. I'm just trying to learn. Since you had a career in education, I would guess that you would agree that the only stupid question is the one which is not asked. All that said, let me ask you about two memorials you have created for Garvin Thomas Keener: 28547810 & 35506751. I understand what a cenotaph is, and that one of these may be a cenotaph. I suppose it is possible that someone's ashes be divided and buried in two different counties, but would the Veterans' Administration consent to create duplicate markers for both cemeteries? Please set me straight, when you have a minute. At first I thought it was a simple duplication, which is easy to do by accident. The more I look, though, the more it seems you intended to do this for a reason. It's probably none of my business. I just try to eliminate duplication when I see it. It was really bad on FindaGrave for awhile. Maybe the Ancestry folks are getting it straightened out. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed.

RE: West Side Cemetery, Lancaster, SC
Richard,
Thanks, but Peka answered the same question. We have some Threatt related family in West Side, one a child that was born and died in 1938, and I couldn't find a death record on him. Wonder why that is???

Anyway, I suspected that child was a child of someone there, and wanted to know if they were buried side by side, which Peka said they were.

Thanks for replying, though. My family is from Chesterfield, Lancaster then to Fort Mill, SC.
Stogner, Threatts and all their inlaws!

Doc, Are you in the Lancaster area, by any chance? I really am having a problem with a family there and wondered if you are close and may be going by. Contact me at cook1222@bellsouth.net please.

Thompson's
You've made memorials for many of my father's side of the family back to my 3rd great grandparents, Lorenzo and Louisa Thompson, which I appreciate deeply. You were very kind and helpful when I was first starting genealogy. I just wanted to let you know I "borrowed" the quote by Mady Castro and added it to my page. It's very profound.

Betty
Minnie Moore Robinson
Richard, Would you mind to delete Minnie's gravesite in Greenhill Cemetery, Waynesville, North Carolina? She was married to my great grandfather, Dunk Robinson, after my great grandmother died. She raised my grandmother and great aunt. In fact I took the picture on the site I have. The cat behind her was Betty...after me of course. She was deaf but my Grandpaw Robinson could get her to come by knocking on wood floors, etc. I was the oldest of all the grandchildren and loved my great grandfather and Minnie very much. I do not know how to combine them since I was asked by someone I need to do it or I would do that. Thank You.
