Genealogy has been a passion for years. Find A Grave is a way for me to "pay it forward". By helping others find their families, I can repay the many who helped me in my search. Find A Grave has been a wonderful tool for me.
This is a hobby. I have a full-time job and can't do this everyday. Therefore, my response times may vary. To ensure there are no misunderstandings, to reduce errors and to keep my participation manageable, here are my expectations.
TRANSFERS: I will transfer memorials within the Find A Grave four-generation rule. While I do believe memorials best belong with family members, I may in some cases choose to retain them. In those instances, I will be happy to add additional information or links. Certainly, I will not transfer my own relatives except in very rare instances.
REQUESTING TRANSFERS: Use the "Edit" button; I will not respond to email transfer requests. This helps ensure accuracy. Please do not request multiple transfers in one message; one person per request. Do not send requests like "transfer all Smiths in this cemetery". To comply with transfer policy, you must fully explain your relationship to the individual. You must include your Find A Grave name and contributor number; I will not search for you.
LINKS: While genealogy is a secondary function of Find A Grave, I think linking makes Find A Grave more informative and is a great genealogy tool. Again, use the "Edit" button. I will not respond to email requests. One person per request. For example, if you want to link all the children of a couple to the parents, send an individual request for each child. Be sure to include your name and contributor number.
PICTURES: I take pictures for people to enjoy and use as documentation in their research. So, please use them for your personal needs. However, if you republish them, add the following: WPO Cheryl, Find A Grave contributor 47386524. Under NO circumstances are the pictures to be used in a "for sale" publication (or website) without my express written permission for each item.
With the exception of my family members, I do not retain pictures after posting them to Find-A-Grave. If you want a copy of the picture, you must copy it from the site. Again, though, remember my requests regarding republishing the pictures.
MORE ON PICTURES: I recently got a "complaint" that I didn't "straighten" the flowers in a picture. I don't go to the cemetery to take pictures of flowers. My goal is to record the family information on the stone. I may even "crop" the flowers out of a picture in order to get a better picture of the history. Plus, I DO NOT DISTURB the gravesite. At times, I've basically "stood on my head" to take a picture so as not to disturb the gravesite. It doesn't always make for perfect pictures but, just know, I did my best to preserve the history without disturbing anything. They all need to REST IN PEACE!
MY SON: I lost my son, Dustin, in 2009. Please visit his memorial 67376999. He is sorely missed every day.
IN CASE OF DEATH: I'm planning to become a very OLD lady! It's challenging to get links, transfers, corrections when a contributor is deceased. Therefore, Kathy Vanchieri or Amanda Ware will assume control of my memorials upon my demise. It's in my will!

 | RE: Stonewall Goforth- Aledo Cemetery The lake filled around 1951. The ranch on the east side was started by Elliott Roosevelt. A farm on the west side was the Rogers place. The concrete steps are all that remain. We live on the west park boundary and can see the Roosevelt home across the water. I'm curious about the others who lived where there is now water. Thanks for your reply. CAA | | | Charles Atkinson

 | Resthaven Cemetery Photo Request Hi,
You made a photo request on Find A Grave in Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City. This cemetery is ENORMOUS, so to get a photo a plot location is needed. Please contact the funeral home: wecare@resthavenokc.com
The funeral home charges non-family members (office walk-ins - like me)to do plot location lookups, so please mention your relationship. When you have the plot number, add it in the PLOT box (if you own the memorial). If you don't own the memorial, send me an email with the information.
Good Luck, Kim | | | Sharon Spain Ingle
