I am from Charles City, Iowa, but have lived in the San Francisco Bay area for the past 46 years. My passion is genealogy. I add memorials to Find A Grave to help others find their long lost ancestors. |
I am currently in the process of adding the cemetery listing for Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. It is a rather large listing so please be patient. You can email me and I can do a check for someone that I haven't entered yet. I also have photos of the tombstones to be entered for those that have them.
If you have information you would like added, please email me & I will be happy to add it and will do so in a timely manner.
If a record I have added is of your family member, let me know and I will be glad to transfer the ownership to you. Also, feel free to use any of the headstone photos I've added for your own personal use.
I would also like to thank Diane Scott, Mia Houghton & W.J. Huisman for all the obits & info they have sent to me for my memorials.

Hi Kathy, I found your email when I was looking at the DeBoest data. Dorothy DeBoest was my aunt (Dad's sister) and my parents were from Charles City so I knew a lot of people in the Riverside cemetery. I can probably supply a lot of links and misc. info if you are ever in the need. I live in San Jose. Bernie Glienke

Find A Grave Memorial# 29180854
This Memorial has a link to his wife, Mary (Staebler) REFSNIDER. Her link goes to another Mary (Staebler) Refsnider, whose spouse was William REFSNIDER. This link also connects to children John William REFSNIDER and T. Pansy (Refsnider) HOWREY. John William Refsnider does go with the Family of John and Mary (Staebler) REFSNIDER. BUT William and Mary (Staebler) REFSNIDER is a separate family. They moved from Pennsylvania to Michigan, not Iowa. You can check the census and you will find a William and Mary Refsnider in Michigan and a John and Mary Refsnider in Iowa.
As there is no headstone for Mary (Staebler) Refnider at this time, we cannot compare the two Marys. I have found a birth for our Mary married to John from the 1900 Niles, Floyd Co. IA, October 1838. Her date of death from the Iowa Floyd County Website USGENWEB.
I really think these are two different Marys. As I cannot find a marriage ...WAIT a Minute! I found a Marriage Record for John Refsnider and Mary Stabler on 24 December 1860 in Floyd County, Iowa from http://www.Archives.com I also found the same information on http://www.FamilySearch LDS .
Not sure how you want to handle this. I think you have our Mary Staebler, but her link is incorrect.
Thank you for your time for keeping up all these memorials!

Hi Kathly - Letting you know that they now have the edit tab working on the profile page- where the contributors can add on the name or date fields- you will see a number on the edit tab telling you how many of these type of requests you have - all we have to do is accept or decline.
Thank you Kathy, you are always so good about transfers, most appreciated

Thank you Kathy for the transfer, I appreciate your help.
|Michael Rewey||Alta Maria Kellogg Barris|
Hi Kathy, thanks for your great work and Alta's obituary.
I was aware of Alta's two children and found the Dean Kellogg Barris side of the family. I also know that her daughter Lucy died at a young age of cancer, probably around 1912, but I cannot find a record of her death. I was at the Floyd County Recorder's Office and found nothing. Any ideas?
