I came across the findagrave website by accident one day while looking up my wife's obituary. I didn't know that it existed and was touched how someone had put in her obituary on the site. So I felt the need to help out other's as I can. |
My wife Tammy Vance Alberthal is buried in the Boerne City Cemetery along with our first dog Oscar.
I retired from working in June 2012. Now I spend my time volunteering at several organizations and going to cemeteries to take pictures then update them on Find a Grave. I have walked and uploaded tombstone pictures of the entire Boerne City Cemetery, Mission Park Cemetery in San Antonio (except for inside the mausoleum) and Der Stadt Friedhof (City Cemetery) in Fredericksburg. Currently I'm working on Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg. I go by and check the mausoleum at Mission Park every now and then but have not found it open.
I'm not a numbers person -- for memorials that I add, I try to find the obituary for the individual and add it to the memorial as well as a picture of the person (and give credit where I found it). I believe everyone has a story and needs to be told to keep their memory alive and for future generations to see.
Don't be afraid to ask for transfers for anybody. I am totally for it and hope others would do the same for me.
My photos are free to anyone who wants to copy them for non-profit purposes, no need to ask. Just say it was from me! I give credit where I found photos on memorials that I add if they are not related to me.

Can you please delete the photo you have attached to Hollye Smith 46948454 and her husband William T Smith 139346537. It is for the wrong individual. The photo you have entered is for someone named Glasser. Thanks
Thank you for the transfers

Mark, Thanks so much for letting me know the correct cemetery for Joe and for adding his headstone picture. I have made the correction on the cemetery to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Thanks again, Connie

H.F. GAINES WRITES FROM SOUTHWEST TEXAS
Fredericksburg, Texas, Dec. 3, 1914
To Mr. Editor of the News,
As I am a Cleburne boy, I thought I woudl write a few words from southwest Texas. This is the best farming country I have found in all my rounds; the farmers are all in the best fix. The war does not seem to bother them in the least in the way of living for they raise corn and hay, wheat, oats, hogs and some cotton and they are able to hold their cotton and money too. When they want anything they take a load of something to town and get what they want and bring some money back besides. I guess I had better tell you who they are, all Germans.
I have just been here a year. Fredericksburg is a German town of 4,000. I find them to be as good people as I have ever lived among. They all talk German from the children up.
The land is rich and good crops are made. Also deer and turkeys are plentiful. One can go out and kill one any time he wishes; also there are lots of fish. All kinds of garden truck are grown the year round. It is a fine stock country. The ground is covered with acorns and pecans.
I get your paper every week. It is like getting a letter from home. I will close but will do better next time. Would like for you to print this. Love to the News and its readers, H.F. Gaines
