Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am retired and enjoy working on genealogy as a hobby. I have a masters degree from the University of Oklahoma and I'm using my research skills to hunt down my ancestors.
www.findagrave.com is a terrific web site.
My ancestors include but are not limited to:
Allison, Campbell, Morris, Johnson, Holdsworth, Baird, Kirkpatrick, Phillippi, Worley, Sweeney, Vaught, Watson, Dale, Wheeler, Hoyt, Newman

I make an effort to connect husbands, wives and families using obituaries and census records.

As many of you know, I have spent hours taking photos in the Rose Hill Cemetery in order to create memorials. I also do research in the Oklahoma Historical Society Library for some of my memorials.

Member: Oklahoma Historical Society, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Civil War Trust, Friends of Mt Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, National Women's History Museum, Pulaski Co KY Historical Society, Cornerstone Genealogical Society (PA), Morrow Co OH Genealogical Society, Osborne Co KS Historical Society.

Use the "Suggest a Correction" feature on the appropriate memorial to submit information or any requests. I follow the Find-A-Grave guidelines regarding the transfer of memorials. Any transfer requests should only be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

RE: Lucretia Farmer Clevenger
Thanks, I had realized that AFTER I sent the message! It has just been so long since I worked on this cemetery that I couldn't just pick up where I left off. I've had a relative asking for information. I'm currently looking for a photo of the headstone. I can't recall if the stone was too degraded to identify.

RE: Elmwood Cemetery - Birmingam
That means that volunteers had to get the location from the office during business hours. F A G guidelines clearly state that when locational data is accessible by the requestor, it should be included in the request.

You might give me some credit for knowing whereof I write, I worked this place for over three years and the time consumed in trying to locate a single grave even with a location code means that most unlocated requests will be ignored. Please note the number of such requests from 2013 and the total number that are there now. I left the area in June 2013 with about 150 requests open. Good luck on your future Elmwood requests.

Elmwood Cemetery - Birmingam
I have provided images for some of your requests, as I recall.

If you do not provide codes for this request, it cannot ever be found. Leaving requests for a cemetery this size and expecting others to do the needed research is pointless. As you can see since I left the Alabama area, there are +500 requests, because I and one or two others were keeping the list down to around 100 requests, and all of those who left codes were fulfilled. ONLY those requests with locational info from the office stand the slightest chance of ever being fulfilled. There are over 100,000 burials at Elmwood.

They are on same stone. I will try and unbury her part better soon. They are caked in mud. You can barely see a date for her on it.

RE: Ollie Clevenger Hackett
Hi :) I'm not related, but I was looking for an Edna Clevenger that was related to someone Geary Cemetery, and just did a last name search in Oklahoma, since it was such an unusual last name.

RE: TREPS, Michael
Most likely, but that doesn't preculude them (him) from having a cemetery marker, as you well know. More and more, folks are interring or scattering their ashes and erecting monuments.

Janet, thanks for the neat additions to Mike's memorial. It takes a lot of work, but it is appreciated. Mike

RE: Hershell Farish
Janet,
I changed his rank to Lt. Cmdr. on the flowers I left. You are right, there isn't a rank of Lt. Col. in the Navy. I should have known better, my brother was a Lt. Cmdr. and then Cmdr. Just an error in his obituary, I believe.
