Bio Photo -She Walks These Hills-

"She walks these hills in a long black veil, she visits my grave when the night wind wails.
Nobody knows, nobody sees but me...."

(song lyrics by Dill and Wilkins)

For years I have been intrigued in researching the history of my family. I had no idea when you pull one thread, dozens more appear. I have met many wonderful fellow historians in this pursuit and in this aspect I am forever grateful to Find A Grave.

I simply enjoy people's stories and each grave and headstone mark a life that is interesting and worth knowing more about.

Often times we are so consumed by our own lives we forget- or overlook the voices from the past. They were here before us, we can learn from their lives.

Isabella Harminson Ritchie Harrison
Hi, I am descended from Isabella H. Ritchie, first daughter born to Thomas and Isabella Foushee Ritchie. The Find a Grave site lists Isabella as married to Robert King Stone, but she married George Evelyn Harrison of Lower Brandon Plantation. Her younger sister Margaret Foushee married Dr. Stone. It is interesting that Margaret's daughter Jane Lenthall Stone married Dr. George Byrd Harrison of Upper Brandon. He was the nephew of Isabella's husband George, so she had a sister and a daughter, living at Brandon. It is also of interest that William Foushee Ritchie (1813-1877), son of Thomas and Isabella H. Foushee Ritchie is buried in the Harrison family cemetery at Brandon as well as his brother Dr. Robert R. Ritchie (1816-1866). Thanks for the detailed information found in your postings on Find a Grave! Mary Knowles, granddaughter of Evelyn Byrd Harrison, daughter of George E. Harrison III of Brandon.

Keith Edwards
St. George Tucker 1752-1827
I was wondering if you would be willing to delete one of those photos at his memorial so we could post his new tombstone? That would be a super idea if you will comply? Thanks a million!

Laurence Hamilton Fox
I am Hamilton's niece. I wonder if you have any questions for me since none of my updates have been posted. I have located his death certificate. He died at Arbor Christian Home in Ruther Glen, Caroline County, VA. The death certificate has his name spelled Laurence (not Lawrence) Hamilton Fox. His parents are listed as Lawrence Nelson Fox and Nellie Sidney Sands. What other information may I provide to you. Hamilton was my father's brother.
Thanks for your kind attention to this update of information. Courtney

Wingfields of Hanover
Hi, I read your post about Walnut Shade in Hanover County, VA . I am disappointed to hear that the house and graveyard is gone. I too am a direct descendant of that family. Martha Ellen Wingfield was my great great great grandmother.

get together
Sandy, I've been retired for a year now, and still haven't gotten back to all the things I want to do in Hanover. Let's get together after the holidays. Have a great Christmas!

Would you link William R. Stiefbold (19320047)with his wife Elsie (19320071)? I just took a picture of their grave that confirms their relationship.
