|Sylvia Cox||Mate Robert Warren Bennett|
My name is Sylvia Cox, married to Phillip W. Cox, a 3rd great-grandson of Mate Robert Warren Bennett. In his family papers, Phil has a letter written by "Thomas Lee Childers" of Ripley, MS. It outlines the descendants of Mate R.W. Bennett and some further family history. The letter is not dated, but clues indicate it might be circa 1984. I wonder… are the author of the letter? I notices you added a photo to Mateland Robert Bennett's memorial. This is a photo I have not previously seen.
I would very much like to make contact with you.
Thanks for your response.
That was fast :)

|Cindi Parker||RE: Question|
Seems like a split in the Primitive Baptist church there was the beginning of the Enon COC. My 3rd Great grandmother, Nancy Turrentine Rowland, was one of the founders of the Church. Like I said I have always wondered why the left the PB church. Would like to know the congregations where some of those old preachers taught. My grand father, James Henry Rutledge, was a starting member of the Tipplersville COC and was an elder there for many years. I enjoyed going through your cemeteries. Thanks for the reply
My Name is Cindi Parker-Thornton. My maiden name is Rutledge. My family was from Tippah Co. MS. I have been reading the bios of men that were ministers. The bios just say preacher or active in"the church". What church? In what churches did they preach? Thomas Rowland, FB Srygley and J Nunnally are three names that I can remember. I know that my ancestors were Primitive Baptist but moved to COC. I have always wondered why. If you have any input on this I would love to hear it.

The dates for David and Nancy Rowland do not match well for parents of Robert C. Rowland.

TOM: UNFORTUNATELY THE VERY SAME PICTURES YOU HAVE ARE THE SAME ONES I HAVE. I GUESS THERE WEREN'T VERY MANY PICTURES DRAWN OF THEM BACK THEN.
|WAYNE BOWEN||MAJ BENJAMIN WRIGHT|
YOU ASKED IF I HAD ANY OTHER PICTURES OF MAJ BENJAMIN WRIGHT AND HIS WIFE MARTHA ANN WRIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY NO, THOSE DRAWINGS THAT YOU POSTED ARE THE VERY SAME ONES I HAVE. THAY HAD A SON, MARCUS J WRIGHT WHO WAS A BRIGADIER GENERAL IN THE CONFEDERATE ARMY. AFTER THE CIVIL WAR, HE WAS ASSIGNED TO WRITE BOOKS ABOUT VERIOUS OFFICERS WITHIN THE CONFEDERATE ARMY. MANY OF THESE WERE PUBLISHED AND AVAILABLE ON LINE SOMEWHERE. WHEN HE DIED, HE WAS BURRIED AT THE BASE OF THE CONFEDERATE MONUMENT IN ARLINGTON CEMETERY IN WASHINGTON DC. HE WAS MY GREAT GREAT GREAT UNCLE. HIS SISTER, ELIZABETH LEVEINA, MARRIED MY GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER, DR CHARLES CARY CRUMP. SHE IS BURRIED THERE ALONG SIDE HER FATHER MAJ BENJAMIN WRIGHT BUT DR CHARLES CARY CRUMP IS BURRIED NEXT TO HIS MOTHER IN BURWOOD, TENNESSEE IN THE POPE CEMETERY.
|WAYNE BOWEN||MARTHA ANN WRIGHT|
MARTHA ANN WRIGHT AND BENJAMIN WRIGHT ARE MY GREAT-GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS. IM HAVE A PICTURE OF THEIR MONUTMENT TAKEN BACK IN THE LATE 1950S BEFORE THE MONUMENT WAS DESECRATED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT SOME OF THE LOCAL TEENAGERS ROBBED THE GRAVE AND BROKE UP THE MONUMENT. MARTHA ANN WAS BURRIED IN A GLASS CASKET WITH ALL OF HER JEWLERY ON HER FINGERS. WHEN THESE TEENAGERS DUG UP HER BODY, THEY COULD NOT REMOVE THE RINGS SO THEY REMOVED HER HANDS. THE LOCAL POLICE NEVER PROSECUTED THE YOUNG MEN BECAUSE THEIR REASONING WAS THAT "BOYS WILL BE BOYS". TRAGIC!

Didn't know if you had ever heard of Benjamin Franklin Randolph (ID 16990409) and Levi Kendrick Wilmeth (ID 70806784). They were the young men sent to Leavenworth for their conscientious objections to the war while at CCC. Ben died shortly after his release.

|DMcCDN||RE: R. T. Goree photo|
Unfortunately I do not. But my notes from a previous visit there indicate it is a beautiful nine foot white marble tomb with an urn on the top.
