I wrote a nice long response without a subject which they requested I do and then they lost my message.
It was good to hear from you. The best part o my job at Mound Grove was helping genealogist. I worked there from 1980 - 1994.
I retired four yeas ago after working seven year at the Kankakee Daily Journal as Human Resources Manager. After a couple of years I decided I was getting lazy and decided to get a part-time job. I now work as office manager/bookkeeper at the Kankakee Valley Airport Authority.
But I still have lots of time for genealogy - findagrave, indexing for familysearch.org, helping my sister at the Library etc. In fact this weekend Betty and I are going to Rockford to attend the Illinois State Genealogical Society fall meeting.
Next time you are in Kankakee, maybe we can meet at the library. Let me know.

Hi Dave
We are kin! Leon & Marie-Aglae Bertrand are my great-great-great grandparents through their son Joseph Adolph and his daughter Anna Lisa Bertrand Forgue. I don't know Leona Mathis. It looks like she created memorials in the K3 area from cemetery records or walking the cemeteries. When I tried to contact her about a memorial she created, I learned she was no longer active so I requested Find A Grave to transfer some relative's memorials to me. I have quite a bit of Bertrand history and would be happy to compare notes.
