I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England and am willing to look for graves etc in the local area.
I am trying to make a full record of the cemeteries I live near and am using local history records to add in the details for headstones which I cannot read or are missing. I started this when tracing my own family tree and my aim is to help anyone tracing their family. I do not want to upset anyone, so if anyone wants me to remove or transfer memorials please let me know.
Tip (Copied from England Discussion Forum):
To do a search for cemetery or churchyard in a particular county go to cemetery search and begin with a full search for all in England. Find-A-Grave will say that there are too many records and that you should go back and refine the search so that it returns fewer results. Ignore this and in the address bar at the top of the screen, where the url reads:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&CScntry=5&CSst=0 replace the 0 at the end with one of the following codes. There may still be several pages of cemeteries in the list for the county, but it is easier to look through
4216 County Durham
4811 East Riding of Yorkshire
4217 East Sussex
4220 Greater London
5248 Greater Manchester
4226 Isle of Wight
4233 North Yorkshire
4240 South Yorkshire
4244 Tyne and Wear
5249 West Midlands
4247 West Sussex
4248 West Yorkshire

I am Michael Genever-Watling and I have been researching my father C H Genever-Watlings WWII record with 415 Squadron RCAF Eastmoor. My father was the flight engineer with Charles Prawdzik during Aug and Sept 1944. I have laft some photos and notes on the Find a Grave site.

I'm looking for the burial plot of my grandfather Samuel Baker who is buried in the skinner lane cemetery in pontefract. He was born 8th October 1922 and died January 1981. Thanks in advance!

Can you look at the grave marker you posted for:
UK and Ireland, Find A Grave Index, 1300s-Current about John Hinton
Name: John Hinton
Cemetery: St John the Evangelist Churchyard
Burial or Cremation Place: Sutton Veny, Wiltshire Unitary Authority, Wiltshire, England
I cannot read the faint carving.
I am searching for Sir John Hinton, MD, born in Chilton Foliat, Wiltshire and died in London 1682 - he is NOT buried in the St. Giles Cripplegate cemetery as shown on Find a grave.
Could this be my John Hinton?
Thank you so much,
Margie Hinton in California

Would you please consider transferring the memorial for Charles Petto Findagrave No. 37348181.
Charles William Petto was married to Eliza Sweetlove, she was my maternal Grandfather's sister, and, I would like to add family history details in the bio and mention their deceased infant daughter too.

Thank you for the photo of his memorial. I didn't know where he was buried and I am struggling to find the cause of his death.

Thank you for taking this photo of my great great aunts grave. Thanks to you I now have more information to added to my family tree.
My grandfather passed in WWII and the photo you posted of his memorial is the first time I or any of my family has seen it. He passed shortly after my mother was born and she never knew him.
Being residents of the Canada and the US, we have never been able to make it over to England. And as my mother is getting on in years, she may not make it at all.
Your photo brought him just that much closer to us. Thank you very much.
