I got into genealogy about twelve years ago with my family. I then began with my wifes family, Bostwick, she is descended from the original line that came to New Milford in the 1690's. There is so much here that relates to her family. I branched off to every family that was connected to the Bostwick's. I have some 70 family trees which includes the male and female members.
In photographing the cemetery stones over the years, I began to notice how fast some of them were decaying. I then deceided to document all the stones in and around New Milford. I have some 5,500 now and still adding. Utilizing old , out of print books, I am able to pretty much record the actual inscriptions to go along with the photos. Some stones have been photographed as many as 50 times to get what I consider a perfect photo. Every stone that was originally with a 35mm camera, has been retaken with a digital camera for greater detail. The time of year, time of day, location of the sun all come into play for a good viewable picture.
I cannot travel as much as I would like to due to economics. If I already have requested photos, it is no problem. Traveling is another issue.
Sincerely Rich Clarke

 | Henry J Booth Thank you very much for the photo. I feel better about this being my soldier. You didn't happen to get a GAR marker for him in the area? Should be a Mass Infantry. | | | | [View all messages...] |
