I got hook on genealogy after talking to my Grandfather (George E. Deskins) about the "Good Old Days" and how he had a story about everyone and everything. I started by researching only my immediate family but it has escalated to years of research, meeting wonderful people, hearing amazing stories and with much help from other dedicated researchers. After joining FAG it keeps getting better and better.
I hope that all of realize that we all are related and should treat everyone the way we want to be treated.
My main research is on all the Deskin, Deskins and Deskines lines, but I also do Jackson and Matney
This wonderful tool of FAG is out of this world, I want to thank all the fabulous people that have help me in so many ways. I would not of had the opportunity to meet many of my relatives, as well as others if not for FAG. There is no way I can ever thank many of you, researcher before me, people willing to share info as well as photos and their lives.
I would also like to make a point, this is not a genealogical site, but it gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect our relatives, showing really how small our world is, so I hope that some that feel they don't want to transfer for whatever reason and this is your right, perhaps think that MOST of us, do not do it for numbers but because we appreciate the honor of caring for our relatives like I do. When I hear about my relatives even thou I have never met them, it's like knowing them. Hope this makes sense.

Sue, the cemetery confirmed the location of Georgia's grave and says there is a marker, fyi. I'm sorry I was not able to obtain the photo and will probably not get back out due to some health issues...very sorry. Maybe you can indicate the presence of the marker somewhere; I couldn't reflect that in my 'problem' note Val

RE: Thanks
Glad to do it. The footstone had Adelines birth and death date so you will be able to update the memorial.

RE: help
Hello Sue,

I think you might be referring to Beaver's Hill Cemetery in Essex County? If so, I can help you. Please email me, as it is private.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

If you want to find out if we are, in fact, related. I would like to buy and send you a DNA test from myself. I wish we would've done that sooner... I would've loved to had a chance to meet him.

You can contact me on Facebook at

Leslie is the husband of my 2nd cousin twice removed. About the only thing I can tell you is what I would find on or
If you need info from either of those sites I could help you.

Their suggestion:
I was wondering if you are closely related to Leslie, and if you could help me with some info?
I am doing genealogy on the Deskins lines and in this case Elizabeth Deskins married Benjamin Maynard and had William Harmon Maynard who fathered Leslie B. Maynard.
Eager to hear from you.

Ida Maynard
I looked at Ida and Grover's memorials and at the Lesley book which is a little confusing. Ida was married to Roy Maynard and they had no children. Grover Cleveland Maynard was married to Mrs. Ella Hurt. I think "perhaps" Ida Maynard and Grover Maynard were siblings. Have you seen the Lesley book?

RE: Thanks
Well, are you convinced that the Glenn Deskins that you manage is actually Glen Oscar Deskins? Some corroborating evidence would be good, but I haven't found any. Glenn's death date does seem to be around the right time, though.
