Bio Photo "It is not about me, but those who have been a part of my life - they made me who I am today" Paula M Brown

My given name is Paulina Margareta Lukosius and my married name is Paula M Brown. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and came to the U.S. when I was 8 months old and my family settled in Chicago, IL. In about 1985, I started putting together charts and biographies of maternal and paternal families so that my children, grandchildren and beyond can benefit from the work that has been done.

What started with my family, as well as my husband's family has turned into helping others to preserve their history and documents. This is definitely an addicting hobby that has a labor of love value attached to it. This has been such a wonderful hobby for me, not to mention the wonderful people that I have met and become friends with.

I have learned so much through the dead that I have really come to enjoy History, a subject I was never really found of when I was a child. I love visiting cemeteries and even more so helping other preserve their family history.

George Harlan - Memorial# 63840371: death date for George Harlan.
Regarding the death date for George Harlan, the dates stated in the original prove (probate) record followed the Quaker (Julian) calendar used by the Quakers prior to 1752, in which the 1st date of the month was March. The orig Will date was stated as “One & twentieth day of the second month called Aprill in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ffourteen, meaning 21 April 1714; the prove (probate) date was stated as “second day of the eighth month Anno Dom 1714”, meaning 2 October 1714. George Harlan therefore died between 21 April 1714 (date of his Will) and 2 October 1714 (probate date). With thanks for the work you have done to honor the family of George Harlan.

You created a Find A Grave for Eleanor Ruth Hood May.

Can you tell me, are you related to her and the family?

If not, do you know of anyone that is related to the Hood family?

Thanks so much

Narl Alvin Nunnally 85625624
I am requesting the removed of this website created by you. Name is Narl Alvin Nunnally. I am requesting this removal after reviewing both memorials. The only difference is the spelling of the last name. I know family living in California an they have verified that this is the same person. As your memorial is dated later than the other I am requesting that yours be removed. The headstone picture and obituary veryify the family links to be the same. I have tried to determine the origin of the spelling difference but with no results. Thank you Linda Dyer Mooney

Harlan/Harland Family and Relatives in Kennett Friends Graveyard, Kennett Square, PA
Hi there, Paula!

First of all, I want to take this opportunity to commend you for taking the time and effort to create the numerous Find A Grave (FG) memorials for the Kennett Friends Graveyard, Kennett Square, PA. I understand your intentions were well founded in creating Find A Grave memorials for all of the folks interred in it. I know first hand it takes many hours completing a FG project of this size and thank you for doing it.

Unfortunately, while I was compiling Primary and Secondary source data for my various direct line Harlan/Harland family ancestors and related families, I found you created several FG memorials for these folks in the wrong cemetery and location, Kennett Friends Graveyard, Kennett Square, Chester County, Pennsylvania, USA.

These ancestors were all members of the Quaker Church and I think I know the cause of this problem. Most likely, you created all of the FG memorials from a set of indexed transcriptions for the Kennett Monthly Meeting Minutes, Kennett Square, PA for a specific period of time. The actual burial locations for these folks are found in a nearby cemetery named the Old Kennett Meeting House Graveyard in Chadds Ford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA.

The list is too long to enumerate here but I'll refer you to the Distant Cousins dot com webiste which has the correct cemetery name and location with photos of the headstones for the majority of these Harlan/Harland individuals and related family members. That way you can do a side-by-side review of the data and make corrections as necessary. The site address is I can tell you're a detailed and diligent worker. So I feel confident you'll revisit the Harlan/Harland and related FG memorials and make the necessary corrections to the applicable individuals.

I'm sure you understand for those of us with Harlan/Harland and related family members who do not live nearby, not having the correct cemetery location could be disappointing in the event a family genealogy trip to the area scheduled specific visits to family grave sites.

In case you're not familiar with Quaker with records and such, published a comprehensive guide to researching church and branch records. It is available in a PDF document at:

Again, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you for all of the long hours you put in creating memorial for Find A Grave users.
