RE: Joel & Melisa Wolcott
Do you know of anyone who might have a photo of Archie Paul Wolcott? He was my paternal grandmother's first husband.

RE: Esther Smith
I've posted the photos on Roger's and Esther's pages. If you go to and click on burying ground digitization and then interactive map you will see a Google map. Scroll down and click on first name. Enter Esther and about 20 names will appear. There is even an Esther Williams!

RE: Bennett O Moen
Uncle Bennet was the live wire in our family. He always told the best jokes, and always had a good word. He worked for Cargill, and was in charge of their sunflower production. They gave him a station wagon with a telephone in it in the late 1960's so he could report from the fields. The picture I posted is his wedding picture. I was told that he was buried in that suit.

I really want to thank you for all you've done to keep track of our burial sites in our family. This heritage will outlast us all and will help our descendants a great deal when they want to research family.

At the end of July we will be driving to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Our nephew, Joe Boyd, is getting married, so it is a great time for family to get together.

One of the best parts of Find-A-Grave is that I've been able to meet you folks.

God bless you with His best and nicest blessings.

Ben Wolcott
They both died from Cholera, they were working at the light house and it was their job to recover bodies from the Lake, at that tome people were dumping dead bodies in the lake to keep them cool but their so many bodies thy had to bring them in to process them. I remember reading about them, I think in one the books on Marblehead Light House, also Merlin Wolcott was direct descendant wrote about them and said his son William is buried in Wolcott Cemetery but no headstone.
Please note I came across court record, Ben was in Norwalk the week before trying change some local laws.

Hope this answers your question.

Isaac Newton Wolcott
Nelson Wolcott, the first of seven children of William and Huldah (Demin) Wolcott, was born January 4, 1806 in Sandisfield, Massachussetts. As a young man, Nelson moved to Griegsville, Livingston County, N.Y. where he took employment for two years as a clerk in the mercantile establishment of his half brother, Isaac Newton Wolcott. In 1828 he entered into a partnership with his brother and took charge of a store in North China, Gennessee County, N.Y. He continued there in business until 1839 when he and N.E. Marston made arrangements with a New York house to open a dry goods store in Buffalo, New York under the name "Wolcott and Marston." The New York house failing, they bargained their goods to a merchant in Indiana and left for Michigan City where Nelson was to take the security offered and deliver the goods. Not finding the security satisfactory, he declined to deliver and the goods were shipped to Geshen, Elkhert County, Indiana where he and Marston continued in business under the charge of Mr Marston until the partnership was dissolved in 1844. Nelson then sold his interest to his partner. In 1847 Mr Wolcott again engaged in the mercantile business in Attica, New York and continued there until 1856 when he moved to Batavia, Illinois.

While Nelson Wolcott resided in China, N.Y., the township was divided and the town of Java was formed. The name of the post office was changed from North China to East Java. Mr Wolcott was postmaster at the time. He also was the first County Clerk of Wyoming county, N.Y. after its formation from a division of Gennessee County. Following his term of office as County Clerk, he was urged by friends to accept a nomination to Member of the Assembly but he declined the offer.

In his early life, Nelson adopted the principles of the Whig Party and became a Republican after the formation of that party. Mr Wolcott said that he was born anti-slavery and on several occasions aided those who were escaping from slavery through the "Underground Railroad."

Nelson Wolcott married Alvina Wright, daughter of Amzi and Huldah (Kellogg) Wright of Middlebury, N.Y., on September 13, 1835. They had eight children: (1) Ellen Huldah, born July 19, 1836, died 1911, (2) Robert Nelson, born April 15,1838, died September 30, 1907, (3) Henry Kirke, born April 19, died February 5, 1932, (4) Laurens Wright, born February 8,1843, died March 19, 1909, (5) Mary Lundie Duncan, born January 3, 1845, died May 23, 1933, (6) Seymour Amzi, born March 8, 1847, (7) William Allen, born April 10, 1849, died April 7,1944,(8) Frank Newton, born December 10, 1852, died 1918,

Nelson Wolcott was a deacon in the Congregational Church of Batavia. He died September 5, 1905, at his home on South Batavia Avenue, following a fall in which he fractured his hip. His sudden death came only four months short of his one hundredth birthday. Deacon Nelson Wolcott is buried in the Batavia West Side Cemetery.
P.S. Isaac Newton Wolcott was our 2nd Great Grand Uncle!

Oh look, a chicken!
Hiya! I added the info you sent, except the dates for Sylvius because I'm dumb and hit delete too fast. If you'd like to have them transferred to you I'd be happy to do so, just let me know!

I found Viola Wolcott Lyons, and added her memorial. I've also stumbled onto Frederick Hiram Wolcott, he's buried in Oriskany Falls, Oneida Co., NY, but which cemetery I'm not sure. He died in 1895, his dad is still listed as alive and living in Sandy Creek, NY but his mother wasn't.

I'm still digging :)
