After the horrendous earthquake in Haiti recently, I decided to read a book I inherited years ago, but had no interest in until now. (The Black Rebellion in Haiti" by Pierre Etienne Chazotte, and edited by his grandson, Charles W. Platt) When I did some research, I learned that Pierre or Peter, is my 4th great grandfather and Charles W. Platt is my great grandmother's brother. In reading the book I learned that Pierre was one of only a couple of white people who were able to escape the massacre of multiple thousands in 1804, partly because he had American citizenship. The unedited version is in the Library of Congress. In my research, I stumbled onto Find a Grave, and discovered that many kind people had made memorials for a number of my ancestors, for which I'm extremely grateful. Some have become friends and are assisting me in further family searches! Thank you all! Especially my friend in Reno!

RE: Ruth Laughlin (nee Russell)
Hi Jan,

Thank you much for the transfer! It is greatly appreciated. I do have those descendants you mentioned in my family tree on but not on Find A Grave. Does it take a while for the picture of Ruth to be uploaded? Or did you put it somewhere else?

Thanks again!

RE: Ruth Laughlin (nee Russell)
Hi Jan,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I am a member. I would be happy to manage her page. She is my gggg grandmother who married James Gilliland Laughlin who you also manage. You said you uploaded a picture of Ruth. I don't see it on her profile. Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly!

Ruth Laughlin (nee Russell)
Hi Jan,

I am wondering if you happen to know extra information about Ruth Laughlin (nee Russell) as she is a direct line in my ancestry. Would love to hear more about her.

Solomons Evergreen Cemetery Kingston,MA
I noticed you had a few requests for Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston,MA. The cemetery roads are not maintained from December 1st until April 1st.

I do plan on going back there come springtime (and no snow) and will try to fulfill your requests when I am there. If someone doesn't get them before then.

Be well, Victoria

Westlawn-Hillcrest Vets
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

If you have already received this message, please accept our apologies for the duplicate message.

Joseph Ireland family
Hi, my 4th great grandfather was Joseph Ireland, so I guess we're related, right? Do you have suggestions about how I can find more information on the women who married the Ireland men and are my GG mothers? I'm having a hard time finding out much about them. Thanks.

Thank you for the website :) I will definitely be using it. In looking back at it I cant believe I didn't just subtract 10 days from her date of death to figure out her birthday.

ruth smith
I changed the date of birth for ruth. I originally had 58 as her yr but the person that requested Eliphalet Smith's picture (he was one of the lighthouse keepers) ruth's son, gave me the yr 1754. She said that all of her paperwork kept coming up as 1754. I don't know if there are any other family members in that plot that I didn't mention (when you click on the picture you will see the names of everyone in that plot). I posted all names that had a headstone. Have a great day :)
