US Army veteran & devoted mom of two smart and devilishly handsome sons, Nathaniel & Timothy and our Italian greyhound, San Juans "Christmas Miracle" Diego. Favorite things: hiking, biking, shooting, painting, drawing, photography, history (particularly AMERICAN), politics music of all kinds & generations, travel, and just messing around with the family...doing anything or nothing.
I've been fascinated with cemeteries since I was a small child (too many funerals). I always found myself wandering off to read epitaphs, dates, and look at unusual monuments. This was a contributing factor to my interest in history. I learned at a young age to respect the dead. We did NOT step on the graves, and the music in the car was turned down. I still practice these habits, as do my sons.
As I got older I would stop at cemeteries through my travels just to relax and look around. Now I live within walking distance of one, and walk there alot in the summer, and every time I travel, and during lunch at work, I stop at cemeteries, still (much to the chagrin of my fellow travelers). Until they plant me in one, I guess I always will! Thank God for Find a Grave... | |
