Do It Now
I expect to pass through this world
but once.
Any good thing, therefore, that I can do
or any kindness that I can show
to any fellow human being
let me do it now.
Let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.
– Stephen Grellet
1773–1855, Quaker missionary

I have looked for a death certificate to verify information but cannot find one online. Are you sure of this information?

I am searching for the Mary Mittie Farrar that married Carl Sylvester Adair. They had a son Joel Clyde Adair born c1941 died 03-03-1942 in Phenix City, Russell Co. AL. Can anyone help me with locating this Mary. Thanks so very much. LaVonne Coke. e-mail:

We will need the block and plot numbers. The cemetery is HUGE and the cemetery staff is less than helpful. It has gotten so frustrating for the volunteers to get the grave locations from those people that most of us have quit trying. Family members can contact the cemetery office and 'sometimes" have better luck. If you get the location, you can add it to the memorial or message it to me on Find A Grave

I have a book, Adelle Bartlett Harper's Family Lines, which has several pages on early Farrars in Virginia. I will be happy to mail it to you if you want it.

Hello. I just posted a photo of DeWitt Blackmar's stone in Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, NY. His was the only Blackmar stone visible in the Blackmar plot, although I suspect there might be more. I have a photo of the large Blackmar monument. Let me know if you would like me to post that as well. It is a large cemetery so I don't know if there are other Blackmars that didn't see.

I think I found an easier way. I can take and upload 3 or 4 photos, you look at them and you tell me which one you want to keep and which ones you want me to DELETE from the memorial. It would be a lot easier than emailing back and forth. I come to Find A Grave every day, usually two or three times a day.

RE: Edward Meara related note...Calvary Cem.
Thanks a million for your kind words. I can visit the headstone and take a few photos and send them to you by email and you choose one and I will upload that one. (Sponsoring gives you 20, not 40)

I've read your long note with your concern about the number of photos uploaded and the exact type of photo you want. This site offers another option which they call "sponsoring a memorial"; they charge you $5 and the number of photos will be increased from 5 to up to 20. But one thing is even more important. If you don't provide the grave location, no volunteer will take any photo. CALVARY CEMETERY occupies 365 acres divided into 71 sections, and each section has plots (rows) and ranges, and each range has several graves with numbers. Please call Calvary Cemetery office at (718) 786-8000 then go to “EDIT PLOT” and fill out the information given to you (SECTION, RANGE, PLOT and GRAVE NUMBER).

Farrar memorials
You are more than welcome for the help with the Farrar Memorials. My great aunt Alice was a Farrar so I have looked at a lot of death records and traced her father, Harvey Farrar's, line as much as I could.
