Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.
I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Until we have a marriage record, we will not know if they are the same person.

Dear Patty Shreve,
Thank you for your data enhancements to the Dellingers at Congressional Cemetery.
While reviewing your Contributor page, I queried for any Dellinger memorials you may have added and found none. I then queried Ball and found you had several from my area.
I have not checked, but suspect that your John Ball is one of the original 'founding' landowners of the west-central part of Arlington County, formerly Alexandria County.
Of course the Shreve name is traces to the Falls Church area, as I am sure you know. :-)
I bet our '6 degrees of separation' would have us at least neighbors, if not kin. :-)
Thank you for for ALL your FindAGrave efforts!
Always, in F-A-G brother/sisterhood,

Know they will be taken care of; see that you have already added much information for those that come seeking in the future. Thanking you.

Re: Patty Shreve on Jan 24, 2015
General problem: Other problem
Details: Yes. . the name on the other side is Mary Monteen Glisson. Due you want me to link as spouses? Since I couldn't find any confirmation on Ancestry.com as to their relationship, I didn't link them when I created the memorial page. Let me know what you want to do. Thanks!
Thanks for the information. I finally returned to this person in my family tree. They must have been married later in life. I also cannot find any marriage date but I did find her in the social security index as Monteen G Dickey.
|Cathy Murphy||Nell Carman Allgood|
I saw your picture of Nell's gravesite and I noticed that the Christmas flowers I place there every year were in the photo. Are you related to Nell? She is my great grandmother. Here son, Paul Allen Allgood is my grandfather.

I hadn't asked for a picture, but when I saw that little leaf waving and it lead back to Find-A-Grave, I was so thrilled to see the pics. It was by chance really that I went to your profile and read the lovely poem. It is so true and I want to Thank you for your time and effort.

Thanks for the note Patty. I am related in a round about way to several "Stones" in KY. I knew Winne was male and I thought it odd that it seemed to be asking for a maiden name, so I thought perhaps you were requesting me to put in a name in that slot. I guess the computer program automatically went to that? Anyway, neither here nor there, as long as WE know what we are doing...haha....in my case, that may be in question! Thanks for all your contributions to this great site. DAM
|Diane Addington||Winnie Stone|
Thank you for the "edits" suggestions you submitted for me to correct on the Stones. Are you related? I am not sure I understand the one on Winnie Stone where you indicated "unknown" on the maiden name. Also, thanks again for the nice photos you submitted on Winnie, Mary and Winnie Douglas.
Thank you Patty so very much for the picture of Sam and Glady Williams head stone. Many Thanks!
