Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.

I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

RE: Mattie Zuber Veale
Hello everyone,
Mattie Zuber Veale is my great grandmother.
Her full name is Martha Irene Veale Zuber.
Mattie was a nickname for her.
I thank Patti Shreve for creating this beautiful Find-A-Grave picture for her. I never got to meet her, of course, but, she gave me my sweet Big mama, Pattie Della Veale.
However, there is a correction I need to make.
Mattie's parents are incorrect.
Her father is: John Finch Zuber, dob 1807 and dod 1880. Her mother is Jane Arthur, dob 1810 and dod 1880. They are from Oglethorpe County, GA.
Mattie's spouse is John Franklin Veal. He was born 23 March 1856 Scull Shoals, Oconee County, GA and dod 29 September 1907 in Greshamville, GA.

Hi Patty- I accepted your edits. I also added the full inscription, and some other family data. Are you family, by any chance? I am looking for some more of my Ferguson family, and they are hard to find!

RE: Bethel Cemetery
It turns out that Robert was probably born at his Grandparents Goodman's home, which is definitely Breckinridge County.

RE: Bethel Cemetery
Let's talk about Robert Wilson's birthplace. Robert was my first cousin. He was born at home, I think. The farm was on the Meade/Breckinridge border line. To my knowledge, the home was on the Meade County side of the farm. What is your source?

RE: JEFFERSON BAPT CHURCH
it does... just looking at the names and knowing something about them ( Paschals and related family ) it seems to be ALL African American to me as well... the Alfords in this cemetery have a connection to the Paschals somehow... because the white Paschals who were slave owners were related to some Alfords who were also slaveholders... If I figure it out, I may be sending some BIO info on more ppl
