Live in Mount Carmel,Pennsylvania. Trying to find other family members of Harold Seibert Miller(father),John Seibert Miller(Gf),William Miller(Ggf)Lafayette Derr(MGgf),Israel Derr(MGGgf),John William Boyer(MGf), Joseph Boyer(MGGf). Also related to the Weikels, Kerstetters and Updegrove(sp?)|
After being called out by someone for misinformation, I would like to set the record straight. I spent over 12 years of my life reading 104 years of local newspapers in the Mount Carmel and Shamokin Pennsylvania area. My data comes from personally reading every obituary printed in those papers. Additional data was taken directly from death records read by me. Those records were taken directly from the death certificates written by the attending doctor/coroner upon that person's death. My "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angel" data was taken from their obituary or death certificate. I trust the doctor's information but the newspaper data I took with a grain of salt as the saying goes.
That's because after doing my research, I found out that reporters back then did not necessarily care if what they reported was correct or correctly spelled. A prime example was the death of a child named "Kulick" (correct spelling). One local newspaper had it correct, the other had it spelled "Coolick". The worse misspelling I found was this example. The one obituary listed the name as "Isaback", the correct spelling was "Eisenbaugh" and people wonder why they can't find their ancestor with reporters like this, that made these examples. So if the data I post is incorrect, don't kill the messenger, blame the reporter who didn't give a cr@p to make sure they reported the right information. I can only post the information taken from the obituary, how am I suppose to know if said information was incorrect. I tried to look for updated obituaries to make sure I had the right data but most times there was only one obituary and that's what I used. Please accept my apology for venting on here but I have spent a good part of my life trying to help fellow genealogist and to be called out because of misinformation hurt me.
As far as changing incorrect information, I am happy to do so. I am also willing to transfer any memorial. As most people know, it is very difficult to read sandstone headstones, especially if they're weathered. So please take the time to read any stone you may be concerned about the information I may have used. After all it is very subjective material and open for interpretation. Using special filters, I gave it my best shot but I'm not sure on some stones and even went back to actually feel the lettering or numbers, it's still guess work in some cases.
PLEASE feel free to visit my "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angels" Virtual Cemeteries anytime and leave them a Flower or Note. These children & adults are lost in time because they have no headstone to tell us where they are buried in a cemetery or even on a family plot. My own twin brother and sister Daniel & Nancy Miller are a part of this group. So is my Maternal Great Grandmother. Records usually don't help, they simply say yes, they're here but where, we don't exactly know. Just remember, you may be the only other person beside myself to visit a "Lost Little Angel" or "Lost Angel". Some of these lost children may not even have a living ancestor,"PLEASE VISIT THEM". Thank You from the bottom of My Heart.

Thank you for all your help connecting as many family members as were available and being patient helping me link them all so future generations will have an easier time finding their relatives from the past.
|kristi georges||Baby Leiser|
I want to thank you so much for all research you have done. I know how difficult it can be especially when you can't always rely on the information to be correct. My family have been looking for Baby Leiser(Charles Lindburgh Leiser) for so long! Can't wait to tell my Mother. Also Charles's great grandmother(my 3rd great grandmother) was a Anna Weikel Kramer (born 1842 died 1940 or 1941)She lived in Mt Carmel I believe most of her life. Any connection to your Weikels?

You're welcome and thank you.

Thanks so much for the transfers. I promise to monitor them with tender loving care.
I sincerely appreciate all of your help. I have learned a lot, but there is still a way to go.
|Ruth Boyd Perz||RE: A No-No for transfers|
Thanks so much for the information. Please accept my apology. I'm so sorry that my errors made you do so much extra work. Thanks for your patience in explaining it all to me. Remember that old song, "I'm my own Grandpa"? When reading your example that came to mind. You are so right, it is confusing. I will try to do better in the future. Also, many thanks for serving as my mentor and teacher.
I will be leaving tomorrow for Denver to visit with my cousin, Elva Boyd Kurnec (86). Her parents were John H. and Anna Boyd, buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Elva was born and raised in Mt. Carmel, another coal region gal or "coal cracker". I will return home Tuesday, so will be able to return to my Family Tree/Find A Grave research later in the week.
I trust that you and yours will have a safe and enjoyable weekend and holiday.

Thanks so much for your message and especially all that you have done and continue to do with the Find A Grave project.
As you may have surmised, I am new to the site and have found a number of my family listed there. I still have so much to learn about them and others as well as how to gain the most benefit from the site.
Genealogy is my hobby, and I enjoy the research and rewards.
I was born in Strong, PA. My family moved to Cleve., OH in 1943 and I lived there for most of my life. I recently retired from my position with the YWCA of Greensboro, NC, and returned to my family here in Ohio. Currently live in Eastlake, OH. As with many families, we lost contact with each other through various moves. With research, I was able to locate cousins and for the past several years we have met at Knoebels for a Boyd Reunion. Just met there at the end of July. One of the highlights on Sunday morning, we visit both the Shamokin and Mt. Carmel Cemeteries. We share info about our families and leave a token of our love on the graves.
Once again, many thanks for your time, talent and continued interest.

I am really touched that you transferred to me the memorials for my Great-Grandparents. It was so nice of you to think of me, and I will be sure to let my Father know of your kindness. He is also from Mount Carmel; the community remains dear to his heart. Many thanks to you!
