RE: new bay cemetery
John and his Father Joshua settled in Sanbornton New Hampshire where they spent the last of their lives ...so I would assume that New Bay was close by.....There is evident that John's parents lived in John's home until their deaths.

Woodbury Melcher
Rick,
You have done an excellent job with the bios for Woodbury Melcher, Sr. and Jr. and the photos for Woodbury Sr. and Rebecca. I will pass on receiving copies of the photos. Right now I would just like to positively identify the parents for Woodbury Melcher, Sr. Using International Genealogical Index and Rockingham County Probate Records (both available on familysearch) as well as researcher Tom Doherty's sites, I would conclude that almost certainly Woodbury's parents were Nathaniel Melcher, Jr., died 1808 Portsmouth; and, Dorothy Ferauld Melcher, 1769-1847. Dorothy was buried at Prospector's Cemetery, Portsmouth, but I'm not sure about Nathaniel. Before I create any memorials let me know if you agree or have another theory about Woodbury Melcher's parents. The Melcher family was quite important in early New Hampshire, first as boat builders and later as bankers and merchants.

Woodbury Melcher
There is a bio online for Woodbury Lunt Melcher (Jr) which mentions that in addition to being a lawyer and insurance man he served as treasurer of Laconia Savings Bank from 1864-1885.
