Bio and Links
Bio Photo Daughter of Evelynn Grace Beebe Lovelace (Allen) (83822715, Hennessey, OK Cemetery) and Ralph Lovelace (6037350, FT Snelling National Cemetery, MN). My beautiful little sister is here: 84143742. I am very interested in genealogy of Lovelace, Neighbors, Watt (and associated Michigan families), and McCullough, Lynn, Gregory, and Beebe (and associated Oklahoma) families.

I am a veteran (U.S. Navy, Retired), as was my father. I pay respects to all whose markers I photograph, but I have to say there is a soft spot in my heart for those who served. I love finding veteran markers and trying to learn more about those individuals.

My current project is photographing old cemeteries in and around coastal Lincoln County, Maine. When I was researching my mother's family, I found it very helpful to have websites available where people had posted historical information and photos from a variety of sources, and that's how I feel about Find-a-Grave and doing this work.

Maine is a state rich in old history and there are a lot of avid family historians looking to websites like Find-a-Grave to piece together the fabric of who they are and where they have come from. I love walking these cemeteries, photographing and trying to read old stones, and finding bits of historical information, such as shipwrecks and such. I find it so interesting some of the things people have put on the stones of their loved ones.

One of the most poignant so far, from an old slate stone in Evergreen Cemetery, Wiscasset, Maine:

"Erected by parental affection to the memory of Mr. James Whittier, son of Capt. Ebenezer Whittier & Elizabeth his wife, who died April 17th, 1798, of a consumption on a passage to the West Indies, Aged 25. The disease which terminated his existence originated in the death of his fair and betrothed friend who lies interred near this monument. In life they loved, in death they are not divided." (Sadly, the other stone is no more, so I never discovered his "fair and betrothed friend.").

It means a lot for me to contribute to Find-a-Grave so people can learn about their families or conduct research.

I do my best to be as accurate as possible with the records and photographs, following the naming conventions and guidelines of Find-a-Grave. Please contact me if you have questions about the information I've posted. I'm happy to make corrections and additions on anything I've uploaded, and I'm happy to transfer your family members to you, however, PLEASE USE THE "EDIT" BUTTON and "SUGGEST A CORRECTION". I will gladly respond if reached via this method.

Thanks...and...Happy hunting!

Your posted Memorial #109940901
Hello Val, Just wondering if you could review the subject memorial number contents, and make a correction to the indicated birth date for the person it belongs to. The date on the posting reads "Feb. 10, 1908" while the birth date engraved on the headstone photo reads "Oct 2, 1908". I noticed the mismatch when I was looking for other data for the person it applies to. Thank you!

Greg

RE: Memorial 84827150
It is very interesting that your Grandfather's name is James Clayton Flowers and that my Great grandfather's name was also James Clayton Flowers. However, I don't know if there is a connection. Send me your e-mail and tell me where your grandfather was borned and if he ever lived in Mississippi.

Hattie B. Giles -#102763278
Val, you added the above profile in 2012. This person is Hattie B. McFarland Giles, the family record I added in 2010. She was the daughter of John McFarland & Sarah Robbins, marrying Joseph Rodman Giles (my great grandfather) in 1874. Since it is a duplicate, I'd appreciate if you'd remove the profile. Thanks, Steve Willcox
