We are the chosen ones. My feelings are in each family there is one who seems to be called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve of what the chosen ones are doing. |
To me, doing genealogy, since 1999, is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all our Pioneers that has gone before us.
In finding them,I am trying too put the pieces together and somehow maybe I'll be able too put my own pieces together.
I would like to Thank you for all your help.
I found this poem, hope you like it!!!!
A Prayer for Genealogists
Lord, help me dig into the past and sift the sands of time that I might find the roots that made this of mine.
Lord, help me trace the ancient roads on which my fathers trod and led them through so many lands to find our present sod.
Lord, help me find an ancient book or dusty manuscript. That's safely hidden now away in some forgotten crypt.
Lord, let it bridge the gap that haunts my soul when I can't find the missing link between some name that ends the same as mine.

The cemetery confirmed there is no marker. It was ordered but never paid for and her grave is unmarked. I will post a photo of the area. It was ordered by a Warren Cable. Her plot is in the Garden of Devotion #56-B-1. So sorry to disappoint you. Val

The obit lists her last name as "Cable" and the Find A Grave page lists her as "York". How do you think she will be listed in the cemetery records? and on her marker? It would help to have the correct name to ask for. Thanks, Val
Smyrna Cemetery is not correct place of burial. It is Beech Creek.

On the home page, select "search 132 million grave records" and enter the memorial number in the "Memorial #" box, and hit the search button. The specified memorial will then appear.

As of today there is still no death date on the headstone. If you don't have further information I suggest you delete.

I found your name from the flowers you left on my momma's memorial (thank you). I read your bio and thought it sounds like we are on the same mission...
We are all born with a destiny to “live” our lives.
Few are born with a destiny to “make record” of those lives…
My best to you and your continued work.

Hi Sandy. Thanks for the reply to my question. I too am a direct descendant of Mary Jane and Jim Greely Champion through their daughter, my great-grandmother Sarah Leota "Sally" Champion Todd .
Plummer is not at Riverside National. His date of death is 1958 but they did not open RNC until the 1980's I checked Olivewood and Evergreen both in Riverside with no results.. I still have three more local cemeteries local and will let you know if I have any luck.
