This is a poem that I stumbled upon (author unknown):

Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you

...no one will ever know.

I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. I've lived in FL, NY, CA, WA, and OR. I was married to my best friend in San Diego over 39 years ago. We now live in the beautiful great Northwest. We have four wonderful children and we've been blessed with ten grandchildren.

I found Find A Grave by accident. It has become one of my favorite sites to visit. It has given me a place that I can remember my mother and my sister Sandy and honor their memory right from my desk. Thank you Find A Grave.

Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't want to know.
But, here's another question, which
Requires another view,
If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of you?"
Reuben Vaughan
Hi Neil,
At one time there was a memorial and a photo of a headstone of my gggrandfather Reuben Vaughan buried next to his son Andrew Jackson Vaughan. I just noticed that the memorial is no longer there or his headstone. Could you tell me what happen to his memorial or headstone? I just sign in and add his memorial again but have no photo of his headstone. The next time your out that way, would you please take a look for me. I would appreciate it.
Jill Marie Rozell
Dear Neil: thank you so much for leaving flowers for my sweet Jill ~ her 12th heavenly anniversary was August 2nd & it still feels like yesterday. But, I know where she is ~ I know she is happy & I know she would choose to not come back king given the chance. I've always wished for a phone line to Heaven; however, if that wish were granted, I would only want more! For sure, Jill would "politely" me that she did not want to come back & to be happy that God choose to take her home. Jill was a real outgoing young person ~ I'm quite sure she is head cheerleader in Heaven! Thank you again!
God bless you,
Thank you.
Thank you for your visits to my loved ones sites. The tokens that you leave are of great comfort to me. It is also a blessing to read about the lives of you beloved mother and sister. May their examples of love and faith strengthen all who read them.
Blessings.
