Some of the fondest memories of Aunt T's childhood are visiting her older infant brother's grave site in a beautiful old cemetery. After paying respects to him and her great-grandparents (they shared a plot), her family would then wander around the cemetery reading inscriptions and trying to find the oldest dates. She would always read the names aloud, feeling it made them more real to her and wondering when the last time someone on earth had uttered their names. |
Now we both share the same interests in tracing our roots and still love to walk around old cemeteries reading names and dates. We're grateful we can do it "virtually" for those ancestors that are buried far from us.
We are happy to transfer memorials within Find A Grave's guidelines.

Hi, Holly Peterson has left a message for me. However, unfortunately I cannot access the message. If you know Holly Peterson, and she would like to make contact with the descendants in the Philippines of Mr Clifton Leroy Ricker, then I am happy to help.

I see that your 4th great grandmother is my 3rd great grandmother. I am so pleased to "meet" you. I have a question or two concerning the Blunkalls. If you were to be so kind as to contact me, it would be greatly appreciated, Sincerely, Cissy Flew Nichols

You have his children and siblings reversed on the Sumner's site.
|Karen Van||RE: Sgt Orren Whitney|
That would be great if you could find Hannah. Yes I am related to Orren, he was a brother of of my great great grandmother. Those sure were hard times. Poor Hannah losing a child and then so soon after becoming a young widow. I hope she did remarry and find some happiness.
Thanks for all your work on Orren's record and so many others!
|Karen Van||RE: Sgt Orren Whitney|
According to one researcher Orren's wife was named Hannah E. Goss b. 1835 married to Orren in 1857. They had a daughter Blanche Maud Whitney who unfortunately preceeded her father in death, you keep her record too
Her death record states only that her father was Orrin Whitney and mother Hannah E. and that she died in Presque Isle at age 3 years, 2 months, 22 days.
Hannah applied for Orren's pension in 1865 but I haven't found any other information for Hannah.
Thanks so much for all the speedy updates. It's really good to see family links, images, and more information posted. Preserves our local history.

Hi Aunt & Uncle T.
Thanks for the incredibly rapid updates!
We just visited with an old friend (over 50 years had elapsed) who is a member of the PI Browns. She is eager to provide information, portraits, etc., so your wonderful memorials should get additional attention.
