Bio and Links
Bio Photo My home is circa 1784. Its situation is such that it fell in the line of battle during the conflict between the States. When my father died, I was too early at the cemetery for the appointment concerning the necessary arrangements. To pass the time I paid a visit to the antique shop close by. Displayed there was a book which possessed a title that gave me the idea that my home may be mentioned within. Upon opening it, the pages fell directly to a description and photograph of my old place. It was not intended for the purpose, but the volume became a much worn field guide as I sought to visit and photograph other antebellum homes in the vicinity. I pursued that objective with interest and vigor. This caused me to notice the old churches en route and I began to photograph them. Behind the churches were cemeteries. Cemeteries that I found to be serene and sublime, full of lore. In turn they led me here and I stayed.

161639991 Henry C. Hilleary
George,

When you have time, will you please check the memorial for Henry? He was originally from Emittsburg, Md. but in 1860, he is in Loudoun Co., Va, where his wife and children were later buried. The pension record indicates that he was in the Eastern Lunatic Asylum. His name was not in the info. for the hospital that is online.

Henry was residing with Wm. Hilleary in 1860, who possibly was also in the war. This is not my immediate family but I have worked on all of the Maryland Hilleary family to add to this site.

Your help is sincerely appreciated!
Margaret

And......I really like your updated bio on your home page.

RE: Jesse Keesee
he is buried there according to several records I've found.. and the stone.. (the stone is shared with his brother I'm guessing the fool didn't look) also.. his name is misspelled in the index he Linked(they spelled it Keessee which is incorrect) and that would confuse them too.. I've used that index before and found that is is INCOMPLETE.. and there is a book on that cemetery that shows burials that are not in the online index.. also some of the family lines info came from a family member that SAW them Buried in that cemetery so.. basically I don't delete unless they can prove to me through RECORDS and lack of stone that he isn't there... so thanks for that...

RE: Hampton M. Miller
I forgot about Heritage Day at Fulks Run. I have the original framed picture and took the photo so I guess Shirley Miller, author of Descendents of Rev. Alex. Miller', must have put it on display. Do you know if Kim is kin to the Miller family? I occasionally get info from her but she has never mentioned it.

RE: Hampton M. Miller
Hi George,
Where in the world did Kim get this picture from? Maybe you know that Hampton was my great uncle on my granddaddy Miller's side.

RE: Thomas Wesley Ross
Thanks for catching my error. I can't believe I messed that up since James Ballard Lewis and Sallie Frances Ross Lewis are my great, great grandparents.

I guess I got going too fast. Thanks for your help.

Salem Church
What an interesting bio! I stopped by to ask permission to use the photo of the Salem Church (cemetery) which I found on my gg grand uncle's memorial #19605729. I would very much like to add it to my personal genealogical files, if you are so kind as to give permission. I promise to give credit to you as photographer. As a photographer myself, I would not use it without permission.

Hi George, this soldier rests in what is known as "Yankee Square" in the Confederate section of Old City Cemetery. Many soldiers who died of small pox were hurriedly buried in this section in unmarked graves. There is an ongoing archaeological study being done to try and identify the men in this area and one day have some sort of marker placed.

Best regards,
Darrell Landrum
