Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy work for over 25 years with brief intervals of inactivity when my life took different turns.

I love going to all the old cemeteries in South Georgia marveling at some of the old tombstones, some of which are quite elaborate and expensive even for that period of time, and thinking about how our ancestors lived. Since my husband and I shared so many ancestors (including at least three great-great-great grandfathers), it was an easy task getting information about our "kinfolk".

When my husband of nearly 40 years passed away in 2002 my enthusiasm for genealogy waned somewhat and I did little research for a couple of years; then I found the FindAGrave website and entered a few memorials. I absolutely love entering memorials and posting pictures of tombstones for so many of the South Georgia cemeteries which I have helped "survey" over the years thus enabling so many people access to this information. I especially like being able to link families and consider this one of the most important features of FindAGrave.

I believe when entering genealogy information one should always be open to criticism in order to get information as accurate as possible -- especially when it is posted on the internet for so many thousands of people to view. Though complete accuracy is so hard to achieve I will always strive for accuracy.....should anyone find incorrect information on any of my memorials please do not hesitate to advise. However, please keep in mind that other contributors have possibly given me incorrect information.

I will be happy to delete, but he is at Greenshade! Robert Thompson took a photo of him being there along with others. Transfer yours to Greenshade and I will delete. Martha Bryson has taken all of Bainbridge City, did she find him?

Hi Barbara:

Would you consider transferring Diane's memorial to me? She is my husband's first cousin. I would really appreciate it.
Take care,

You're certainly right --it's never ending! William Kirkland was born in South Carolina in 1840. I found his siblings on a census as Caleb, Jr., Nancy and John Loveau. His first wife whom he married in 1857 in Clay County, Georgia is Sarah Ann "Sallie" Kirkland, apparently a Cousin. They moved into Jackson County, Georgia. If any names ring a bell please let me know! Thanks much and all the best to you, Nancy

Hi, Barbara - your work is very impressive and of course hugely important! Are you, or really I suppose your husband related to William Kirkland born around 1840 in South Carolina, moved into Clay County, Georgia and married there Sarah Kirkland (apparently a cousin), then moved into Jackson County, Florida around 1860. Their first child was born in 1859 in Clay County (Elizabeth) and their second, Colyer was born 1869 in Florida. I suppose the gap is explained by William having served and I believe injured in the war.

Please let me know if you have knowledge/information on these Kirklands. Thank you so very kindly, Nancy

Hi Barbara,
No I don't have any means of verifying if this is indeed Connie. I will be glad to insert a note to the possibility of it though. Frequently when you do that someone will stumble across that has more info and send that additional info. Send me a note to insert and I will.
Warm regards,

Hi-Not sure if you are still working under "Kathy" sometimes, I sent her some messages to add some info to the Bullards at Beaver Dam, if so, maybe you can add. Haven't forgotten William Roberts but so far haven't found anything more. Cat
