Many thanks to everyone who sends additions and corrections to the memorials we manage and who have left flowers/tokens.|
Please do not post images of the death certificate to memorials. That information should be transcribed in the biography field as it is not searchable as a scanned image and it also takes up a picture slot that could be better used for actual images of headstones and or family photographs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the photographer was either Harvey Sr. or Jr. Don't have any idea where the Conover's lived in Memphis, but Harvey Sr. was the first owner of the Photo Shop Studio in Sitka, Alaska. That was about 1920. My daughter happened to be in Memphis a few months ago & photographed the grave for me.

In the last few minutes, after sending you a message wondering what might have been the actual death date of Gustavus B. Thornton (to be used on his Find A Grave memorial), I ran across his death certificate on Ancestry. The family tombstone photo seems to show a death date of July 11; the memorial that you created lists July 12; the death certificate was changed from July 11 to July 10. On the certificate the death date had originally been hand written as July 11, 1910; but the 11 was changed by hand to a 10. I have chosen to use a date of July 10, 1910, in my Ancestry tree. I guess it is up to each of us to make our own judgements. This wonderful hobby of genealogy can be confusing at times. As a side-note: I descend from Dr. Gustavus Brown Horner (1761-1815)& his son Dr. Frederick Horner. Thanks for your effort in creating Find A Grave memorials.

You list his death date as July 12, 1910; but his tombstone appears to show July 11 of that year. Do you think July 11 is correct, or perhaps you know from other sources that July 12 is the correct date of death? I know that stones can be engraved with the wrong dates.

Really.. haha! Not surprised. At first I took their message in stride but then, the longer I thought about it....
I stopped after leaving about 3 messages on their wall..LOL. Some people, bless their hearts :)

So just because I am the one doing the geneology research that disqualifies my husband from being a direct descendant of these grandparents according to find-a-grave. Doesn't seem to track to me. Thank you for your time and effort.

Have you noticed the message disappeared?

I wanted to say thanks for the offer but I am going to get the pictures back from Ancestry.com and re-post them. Take care and God Bless. Judy

Loved the response to Hope! Thanks :)

Thank you for your response to Hope. When I read Hope's message it made me sick, nervous, and anxious. I started searching through and deleting any and all photos I had posted - then I wondered if anybody responded to Hope. Now I am sorry I deleted them. My own great grandparents and Grandmother are there along with many cousins (unfortunately)! You made valid points. Thanks your response is encouraging to those of us that were intimidated by the ugly threat. Take care, Judy
