I will gladly transfer memorials to family, no matter the lineage, as well as to friends. :-) Any photo I take is yours. :-)

I have always been drawn to old cemeteries where I read and touch headstones as my way of remembering those who have passed on.

I am forever grateful to the following FAG members:

Janie #47619161, who located numerous documents for me about my great grandmother who died in 1912 and started my family tree on, giving me an incredible jump start on my ancestral research.

Clint Black #47536687, who was instrumental in helping me learn about my Wyoming ancestors from back when Cheyenne was still a territory.

Van Bender #47533106, who brilliantly took photos of all the damaged crypts at Saint Bernard Memorial Gardens after Hurricane Katrina. Without him I would have never known where my dear friend Dianne Agnes Bird May lays peacefully after a horrific death.

Dee #48005787, who went to an incredible amount of work to locate the gravesite of Hung Anh Truong #96905085 in order to be able to photograph his headstone. Hung, a Vietnamese teenager, is considered to be one of the first hate-crime victims in Houston, TX.

Judy H #46977685 who has filled over 30 of my photo requests in Milwaukee, and has even created memorials with photos of my family that I did not realize were buried in Milwaukee, and then transferred the memorials to me. Judy's work provided me with many dates of birth and death I was not able to find on my own.

And those who have transferred memorials of my ancestors to me, filled photo requests for me, and have taken their time to help me along the way.

I have had the privilege of documenting an old forgotten Jewish cemetery in Hallettsville, Texas, that is in deplorable condition, and over 150 graves in a Historic Black cemetery in Colorado County, Texas.

Honoring My Ancestors
RE: Holley Kitchen FAG# 157120951
Hi Maurene, thank you so very much for the update that Holley's obituary had been posted, what a devastating loss for her family and friends. Everyone deserves to have their memory carried forward, that is one of the reasons I love this database. And helpful people like YOU make it worthwhile. Warm hugs, Helen

Good find! I did a little research myself and linked one of her sisters, and made family links on her parents' memorials as well. If you would like Mrs. Stern's memorial transferred to you, let me know. I did not know her and I am not related, and since she seems to be someone important to you, that is good enough for me. :)

The photo you see on her page is the generic "gate" shot that goes on all the memorials in that cemetery. Click on "request a photo" and perhaps someone will take a photo of her stone. Sorry, I am far away from that county or I would offer to do it.

Hi Maurene and thanks for your kind words. I love photographing for Find a Grave. You know, the greatest mitzvot are those we do for someone who can't possibly do anything for us in return. I'll keep on the lookout for Rabbi Felsenthal when I'm at Rosehill.

Zayt gezunt,

Jim Craig
