RE: Allen Family of Louisville, NY Dear Mr. Lisle: I found your website but could not open the database. Alas! I did find some data sheets on-line which I copied. Let me tell you what I have discovered in the last 48 hours. Lucretia appears to have been the last child of Aaron Allen and Lucy Train. I found a baptismal record for her in the Athol, MA records. I had guessed she was born in 1784 but since she was baptized on August 21, 1785 that could very well be her birth year. Also listed were Nahum, Aaron, John, Elisha (Elijah), Gideon, and Ethan. I stumbled upon her Allen family when I found her mentioned in Nahum's will papers. Since she named her first daughter Caroline Allen Dudley, I realized I had made a big discovery! I also located a marriage index for Upper Canada East which said Lucretia Allen married Jonathan Dudley in 1800. I have not found an exact date but this information agrees with what I read in your material: the Allens were in Canada before crossing into St. Lawrence County. Because their son Joseph was born in 1813 I theorize she lost several children before he came along. Caroline was born in 1818. She married Fisher Hartson Thomas, probably in 1851, and died in Wisconsin in 1904. Uriah, from whom I descend, was born ca. 1823. Jane was born ca. 1826. I know virtually nothing about Jonathan Dudley except that he was allegedly born in Massachusetts. I have attempted to trace the family back to the famous Governor Dudley of Massachusetts but have had no success. It might interest you to know that Uriah and his wife Mary (Polly) Cole named one of their sons Allen. He was 11 years old when the 1870 census was taken. I have found nothing else and think he must have died young. I hope this has been useful for you. Best wishes, Natalie J. Woodall, PhD
RE: Allen Family of Louisville, NY Good morning, Mr. Lisle: I found your message to silentarcher99 dated November 15, 2010 concerning Sidney B. Allen and decided to contact you, hoping against hope that you could help me with my ancestor Lucretia Allen Dudley's family tree. I certainly do not want to offend you in any way and if you don't want to continue the conversation I will understand. Thank you for responding. Best wishes, Natalie J. Woodall, PhD
Allen Family of Louisville, NY Dear Mr. Lisle, I am hoping you can help me. I am descended from Jonathan Dudley and Lucretia Allen who lived in Louisville, St. Lawrence County, NY. I have after many years of searching found that Lucretia was indeed an Allen. I think Nahum Allen, who died in 1852, was her brother. I know so little about these people. I don't even know where Jonathan and Lucretia are buried. For that matter I don't know when they died! I am descended from their son Uriah (b. 1825). They had at least three other children, Joseph (b. ca. 1813), Caroline Allen (b. 1818), and Jane (b.ca. 1826). Can you point me in the right direction to find more information on Jonathan and Lucretia? I would be most willing to share information I have on later Dudleys if you are interested. Looking forward to hearing from you! You are the first lead I have ever found. Best wishes, Natalie J. Woodall, PhD
RE: Joseph Schoonover I did a bit of checking. Martha Coe Schoonover, who married your John Lisle, was not the granddaughter of Joseph Schoonover. She was only the wife of William Schoonover, grandson of Joseph, and therefore no blood ties.
RE: Jane (Vance) Davidson Actually it started because I was looking at the Davidson Cemeteries in Overton and Fentress Counties. When I did the search on FindaGrave I didn't narrow by county and noticed the Davidson Cem that Jane's memorial was in along with another Davidson in the same county. You should see the mess in Overton and Fentress County Davidson Cemeteries. It can't even be described. Duplicate cemeteries, duplicates in one cemetery, plus duplicates across cemeteries. I started to delve into it then decided I'd be better off just making a trip to Overton and Fentress Counties and photograph the cemeteries myself to prove who and who is not buried in each one! I live in Missouri but visit Overton County often. Thank you for helping!
