Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have only recently learned of Find a Grave, and started researching first my immediate family, then my extended family. It has been an enlightening experience, and I've met a few very helpful researchers. Thanks to them, I know a lot more about my ancestors.

I'm still researching and adding information to Find a Grave as I receive or locate it. This could be a full-time job!

RE: Laytons in Sparta
That is him. I'll check it out... had approximate dates, but nothing specific on him. He was born in Fauquar (sp) VA county however. and married to Susannah Foster Layton. Dr. A.S. Layton has memorial #27241335. He died in Yellville, Marion Co. Ark. They had at least one other brother Theodorick and a sister (first name unknown) who may have married someone named Sanford. John was son of Rev. War Patriot, Robert Layton, but you probably have all that!:)

Laytons in Sparta
Barbara, thank you so much for into on the memorial of John Mitchell Layton (Abundance Cemetery). He was my andcestor's (A.S. Layton) brother. I have dates for him (B. 4 April 1819, Virginia; d. 16 July 1891 Sparta MO) I do not know where his father (John Slaughter Layton) is buried, or have a date of death, do you?) I believe it was also in Christian Co Missouri.

Robert Layton
Larry Wantland tried to get a photo of the headstone for Robert Layton but was unsuccessful, for the following reason(s):

The general problem they reported is:
This burial is on private property or is otherwise inaccessible

They also reported, specifically:
owners are uncooperative

Would it be possible to place something in the memorial under bio so the owner isn't distrubed in the future. Hopefully the owner will have a change of heart and permit a Find A Grave contributor to electronically document headstones in the Martin family cemetery.

For that matter, hopefully you might communicate with the owner, even if indirectly through Larry since Robert is your direct line grandparent. Maybe under those circumstnaces owner might reconsider.

Larry Wantland's profile is at:

Otherwise, we have to respect the owner's wishes.

Ronald D. Layton
Good Morning Barbara,
I just checked Ronald's site to try and transfer it to you and realized I did not create his site, I just added the photo of the headstone. His site was created by the dept of VA afairs. In order to get it transfered to you, you need to contact findagrave and have them transfer it. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help to you.
