As a result my relocation, to Florida, I will no longer be available for Pennsylvania photographs or research and it will take quite some time to become as familiar with Bay County, Florida and surrounding areas, as I was in my original home area of Armstrong County, PA.
========================

Born and raised in Apollo, Pa., which was the epitome of "Small Town USA," in the 1950's. Graduated from College, taught High School Biology for 6 years and then I grew up and joined the Navy. My goal was to Serve our country and see the world at the same time and then, after one 4 year hitch, I would resume a Teaching career. Things sometimes do not work out as planned...In 1997, after spending 22 years in the Service, I retired, back to my home, in Armstrong County, PA. Retirement has enabled me to work and concentrate on the main love of my life, which is my Family and Friends and, also enabled me the time to pursue my addiction to our family history and genealogy. There has also been ample time, left over, to engage in the secondary love of my life, which is fishing. Now, there had always been an interest in family history and genealogy and these fishing pursuits of boating, canoeing and tramping the streams, in search of the wily Trout and Bass has led me to many cemeteries, which are located in out of the way places. It is to the point...and, sometimes to the chagrin and frustration of my wife, where I cannot pass by a cemetery without "exploring a little bit." Thankfully I have married a wonderful and understanding wife, who, in spite of her seeming, sometimes frustration, just winks and grins whenever I tell her about the discovery of a "New" Cemetery...and then admonishes me to be sure not to miss anyone's stone. (As if I would, Eh?)
Many of the cemeteries, in this historic area of the country, are very old...some are grown over and a lot of markers are in advanced disrepair and are illegible. I have come to believe that we are losing our heritage and history, by allowing this to happen. After discovering Find-a-Grave, it has become easy to combine my hobbies with family history and the recording of the old cemeteries in my home area.
It is my goal to record as many of the small church or family cemeteries, as possible, in Armstrong County and adjoining counties, before I am too old to get out of the rocking chair. It is a guess there are still a few years, to go, before that occurs: I hope!

Duncan Cemetery
Dear Mr. Stoughton,

I see that you took many photographs of the graves in Duncan Cemetery in Armstrong County. First, thank you very much for your contribution. Second, I was wondering if you knew anything about the history of the cemetery, or if you knew who to contact about early graves in the cemetery. I am researching Alexander Duncan for a client (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=39517702).

Thank you for any help you can give. I hope that you are enjoying Florida!

Sincerely,

Sarah Davies

RE; Mary Stuchell
Dear Burke, I noticed on Mary's page the tombstone says Beers. I can see the Stuchell stone in the background. Is this a mistake or is this because you couldn't get a clear picture of the Stuchell stone? Donna

Hi
Thank you for all of the updates I've sent. I hope the weather is nice now that you're a "southerner." It's been a typical Western PA Spring- gloomy and rainy the past 3 weeks.

. Traditions says that he was implicated with his brothers: Robert Wakefield, beheaded; Gilbert Wakefield, arrested with Robert and imprisoned for life; and Samuel Wakefield, who escaped in a rowboat to Scotland; in the plot against Catholic rule in Ireland

Ireland had been under Protestant English rule for five century's so that family history is bogus also A row boat unless it was a Viking long ship with a full crew) could not get from Galway to the closest Islands in Scotland (Islay) because it would have to go around Donegal and up past Antrim.
