Bio Photo I was born in Ogden, Utah.

I served in the Navy for 4 years as a sonarman (1966-1970), Three of those years were aboard the destroyer: USS Blue (DD-744).

I worked civil service for Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 42 years.

I work part time for Napa Auto Parts.

I love to do Genealogy research, which has brought me to Find A Grave. I like to help out in my spare time, and give something back.

RE: Thanks for your work
We'll thank you also for your service in the Navy. You musta pinged onto a few subs during 1966-70. Actually I was playing soldier with my G.I. Joe when you were cruising. Me, I'm a little younger than you, and was in the AF from 1979-99. I'm not really retired as I work for BAE Systems writing Tech Orders for the military. I guess my biggest dismay is finding children dumped into cemeteries, sometimes for a hundred years, not linked to their parents. With Family Search and Find A Grave, I try to bring them together as a family.

RE: Ada Louisa Phippen
While you were on the Blue I was on my first (diesel) boat USS Tang SS563 out of Pearl; made two Westpacs on her. After that it was four Nuc Fast Attack boats; Gato SSN615, Philadelphia SSN690, commissioned the Bremerton SSN698 and launched and commissioned the Augusta SSN710. Between them I made 1 north Atlantic run, two Med trips, two trips to the Persian Gulf (one going around the world and the second ending in Pearl as part of a homeport change) and one last Westpac. The Bremerton is still in commission and is the oldest Sub in the Fleet. I was a forward ET, vice a Nuc ET. We operated and maintained the electronic Nav and ESM equipment. In-between the Gato and Philly I was an instructor at the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Pearl (Ford Island) and after the Augusta I was lead instructor at Sub School at the Sub Base in Groton, Conn.

Thanks for your service.
