Your uncle Jack
I was out yesterday taking pix and checked his plot. The city did trim some of the rosebush but there is still a very thick limb right over the stone. The sun wasn't bright enough to get a good shot and it is shaded by a concrete thing, also, so it's hard to get enough light. The inscription is nice. I asked the man who put up the memorial to add his rank and the inscription. Your uncle was a hero. Linda

Wilson/Horton plot in Riverview
It'll be great if you can ask Bob, the caretaker at Riverview, to trim the rosebush. If they can specifically trim so that your Uncle Jack's stone can be seen, that'd be great. When I asked him about my trimming to get photos, he asked if I had trimmed one in Section C one weekend. They had hauled out a pickup load of cut branches. I had not done that! He asked that I not trim as someone might see me and think it'd be ok to trim indiscriminately. I have cut a branch or two from a low hanging cedar tree if it won't show and no one can see me. HaHa! I keep my loppers in the car. They now have a sign up asking that no trees or bushes be planted. Your plot on that slope will be a lovely resting place! Thanks, Linda

Jack and Harold Horton
I wanted you to know that I posted pix of Jack (a veteran) and Harold Horton. Their stones are hidden under a very large thorny rosebush behind the main Horton/Wilson stone. I saw that you left messages for Altha & Lou and thought maybe you'd like this info. Linda BTW, the cemetery personnel will trim the bush only if a family member or ancester requests it. I would have gladly cut it to take a better photo but it is forbidden.

Laverne Nance
Thank you for this memorial. I have been told that Mr. Nance was just as written. I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Nance. My brother, David, and my stepdad, Jim Wallace knew him well. Jim still has the first sprint built.
