Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am Bob, living at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, Gulfport, Mississippi. I only use my electric bicycle and public transportation. I retired from the United States Navy on Friday May 13, 1977. I have always thought of Friday the 13th as my lucky day, and it still is. I am 75 years old.
I have just finished photographing all cemetery plots at St. Nikolaus Catholic Church, Pattaya, Thailand; posted memorials and photos.
I grant permission to use my photographs in all respectful means.
I add interments when I find them, if they are from your family, I want to transfer them to you because you have more information than I do.
If you are maintaining a section of military information elsewhere, I want you to maintain the memorial sites that I posted too. Again you have more info than I do.
I am also happy to say that I have photographed every grave site at the US Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery (up through October 2010) and the Battleground National Cemetery both in Washington, D.C.I have also Posted every grave site at St. Elizabeth's Hospital (West Campus).
I have also photographed the headstones at the Kanchanaburi War Memorial Cemetery Thailand (the POW Cemetery from the Thai Burma Railroad, Bridge on the River Kwai fame).
I have photographed all of the headstones at Chungkai War Cemetery, another POW cemetery from the Thai Burma Railroad, Bridge on the River Kwai fame, also.
In December 2012, I just completed photographing all of the headstones at Labuan War Cemetery, Malaysia; except for Section R where I missed some.
In January 2013, I just completed photographing all of the headstones at Clark Cemetery, Philippines and have posted them.
One day I will be honored by my name being included on the Fallen Find-A-Grave Contributiors Memorial.
I am also a War Graves contributor.

thank you
I have been trying to discover the grave of my great-great uncle, Joshua Elkins Langley with no success. Imagine my surprise to find it here. It makes me feel good, knowing he has a memorial and that it is being taken care. I know that he was wounded at the Second Battle of Bull Run, and died a month later in a hospital in Washington, D.C. His brother, also served during the Civil War from Illinois, and is buried in Nebraska. Thank you so much...

Hey Bob,

Thank you so much for the transfers. I hope all is well there on the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast and that you and your electric bike are moving with low friction at full speed.

Happy New Year!

Charles H. Guernsey
Hi GulfportBob. I was doing some family research and came across the photo you took of a relative, Charles H. Guernsey, who was interred in Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery. I am a Find A Grave volunteer here in Green Bay where I live. I must say you have been a busy volunteer, providing so many photos of servicemen and women. I'm writing today to thank you for your time and willingness to honor so many deserving ancestors. And to thank your for your service to our country. You are a hero.

Thank you for taking the photo of my uncle's marker. You have brought tears of joy to my eyes. I don't remember my Uncle Ted (my mother's brother) as I was only 8 when he was killed. I do remember there was a lot of controversy surrounding his death. Enough that his younger brother Lieut Richard E Heister #16723589 also served in the same area trying to find out more. Both ended up dying in the Vietnam War. This took both of my mother's brothers. Ted died on his mother's birthday and Richard died on another sister's. Just a little over one year apart.

All this is to say that it is WONDERFUL that you have spent your own time and money to honor those who have served us so unselfishly! Thank you for your service both in the military and also for Find A Grave! Thank you really doesn't even seem like enough....
